Thanks for your thoughts, it was nice to read. I thought the earlier seasons were also really good, with some highs and lows here and there. I can see that with season 3; I personally liked the prison stuff and thought it was a cool location, but I think the Governor was done a little better in the comic. In the TV version they try to flesh him out more, but I think him being over the top as a villain worked better. Sorry to hear you didn't like season 6. I've read that on here too, but for me there are so many amazing episodes. ***SPOILERS*** you get the lead up to not really knowing who Negan is but feel that scary presence that something big is going to happen. Episodes like the one where they infiltrate their bunker was so tense, and the episode where they think they have Negan, then it's actually some random guy who says they are all Negan. Great scenes. Even the season finale is one of my favorites; just them driving down the roads to see they are blocked off, getting cornered was really scary, then you finally get the reveal of who Negan is. I agree in season 6 it started to feel a little more like a soap opera in some parts. Season 7 has one of the best and scariest episodes I've ever seen on any show (The day will come when you won't be), and stayed extremely true to the comics which I loved. I thought it was weird when I heard people complain it was too gory or violent; that part of the story is suppose to be. It's suppose to feel hopeless and something that makes you feel for the characters. I thought it was effective anyway. I personally think towards the end if season 7 or beginning of 8 is when the quality started going all over the place in the show. Wow that's really neat! I haven't played that game but that is a cool thing they added. I remember hearing that too. No, I don't believe the comics ever give an answer or source of the virus. At least not in the main storyline; not sure if any side story comics ever came out since then. I think the closest we got was in the season 1 finale of the TV show, where the scientist gives some hints as to what's happening. I also didn't see World Beyond season 2, so maybe they mention something in that. (I love Walking Dead, Fear and Tales, but couldn't stand World Beyond after watching the first season). That's true, I never thought of COVID issues when they were filming this. I enjoyed this movie too. I was kind of surprised when it came out, seeing a lot of people not like it on here. I never watched the trailer or read about it beforehand, so I went into it blind. Not sure if that helped, but I love weird, creepy movies and this did it for me. I liked it way better then Lamb from A24 at least; for me that was one of the worst films I watched this year. Yeah, I still feel disappointed. I mentioned it in one of the other topics, but at some point in the future I'm going to watch the whole series from the beginning to end, now that's over; I haven't rewatched any previous episodes since it started. Maybe my opinion will change on it and the end will flow better. Probably not though, I just wish they gave it a more proper ending instead of having the spinoffs. That's a good question. I think it helps more often then not; maybe we are just seeing the scenarios where the soldiers get bit more often, while off screen most days they are safe and it helps protect them. I can't remember if they showed off the armor more in the comics or not. Yeah that's him. I just wasn't into it, although I can see why people like it if they enjoy horror with some dark humor. I still think the overall movie was entertaining and I'd recommend it to people who like horror, but that first half was so awesome, I was hoping that we'd get more of that. I can see that, yeah certain parts could have been done better. ***SPOILERS*** I do think though the first time they reveal them was done well in the show and I think it's up there with one of the best episodes. I forgot if it was the finale of that season, but it's the one where Jesus dies. The entire atmosphere is really cool, with the graveyard, the fog, felt just like a classic zombie movie. And for those who didn't know anything about the comics, the reveal of the zombie using a knife and hurting Jesus was shocking, especially after Eugene theorized maybe the Walkers are evolving since they thought they were talking. I'm glad you enjoyed it more, I still think it's one of the best episodes of season 11, but as a whole I thought it was one of the weakest seasons. I already wrote what I thought in another topic, but I did also like how they handled Rosita and Eugene, it was very emotional and I thought they did a great job. Maggie and Negan's scene was also decent. The negatives for me still outweigh the positives, but someday in the future I'll rewatch everything from the beginning again now that it's over and see how I feel then. I think they did the Commonwealth arc way better in the comic and I'd even go as far as saying out of all the storylines from the original story, they did this one the worst in the TV version. I also hate the fact that Rick and Michonne are just tacked on at the end; I love seeing them again, but really? They can't even show them reuniting with their loved ones and friends? I get that with 1 episode left it would have forced, but I would have taken that over what they gave us. It reminded me of how the Marvel movie universe is (which I stopped watching after Avengers 1 I think), where every single individual Marvel movie wasn't really it's own movie; it was just an advertisement for the upcoming stuff in the next bigger films. With Walking Dead I bet we would have had a proper send off if we weren't getting all these spinoffs now. Anyway glad you enjoyed it and I don't think it's the worst ending to a series ever or anything, but I've been following the show for many years and it just fell flat for me. The quality of the TV show starting dipping for me around the halfway mark of the Negan saga. I thought the lead up to Negan was great, including his introduction episode. It is a long arc (both in the comic and the tv show), but I feel like the tv version's quality dropped around half way through it. Then it picked up again with the Whisperers story, then fell off big for season 11. I agree, I hate that they killed Carl off. One of the worst decisions they made. I felt the same as you with Michonne; while I really like her character in the comics and TV show, I just never really bought the romance idea between Rick and her, like I did with Andrea in the comics. You should try reading the comic books of The Walking Dead, you might like it better. The story is entertaining and it goes at a pretty brisk pace. I watched it tonight. It's hard to believe that the Walking Dead is over now (at least the original show), kind of feels unreal. Overall I thought season 11 was a disappointment, and the finale was only slightly better than average. ***SPOILERS*** What I liked: Rosita's scenes with Eugene were great, reminded me of the previous seasons were they had some quality emotional parts. I also thought the Daryl rescuing Judith and giving her blood was well done. The part where they left her in the recovery room and dump stuff in front of the door so walkers couldn't get in reminded me of the the first episode with Rick in a coma. I also really enjoyed seeing the montage at the end with the old characters, many who died and some who are still alive. What I didn't like: It just didn't feel as big as it should have been for a final episode, and they really hampered it with having all these spin offs; to me it weakens the ending we could have gotten for this show. I love the comic book and realize it won't be exactly the same (some things that are changed in the TV show I actually like better), but the comic version had a way, way better ending and time skip for the conclusion in my opinion. Also what was with the pacing in certain parts of this episode? It wasn't bad until they were getting ready to set up a trap for the walkers with the fuel barrels, and boy did that feel anticlimactic. Then it just phases into the one year later thing, and I wasn't feeling it. I mentioned this in another topic on here, but the Commonwealth is suppose to feel huge; it had around 50,000 people in it. It never felt like that in the show, ESPECIALLY this episode where you have... like a dozen people trying to get through the gate during the Pamela sequence. I still enjoyed it because I love the Walking Dead... but ugh. I'm glad I got to see Rick and Michonne at the end, but I still think they should have been there with all their friends, especially reuniting Rick with Judith. I mentioned it in my topic recently with how I felt about season 11. I like the idea of walkers evolving, mutating or variants. I think it brings the zombies back into the spotlight of being a major threat again, something the show really needed. I dislike the fact they put this in the very end of the final season though, I wish all of season 11 had more of this new event. I like the Commonwealth story arc in the comic book, but since the TV show was 24 episodes for this last season, I think evolved walkers would have been cool to see more of. Instead they used all of these extra episodes to make the filler arcs with Leah and the religious cult, and some other side stuff that I thought was kind of pointless. I think we will see Rick and Michonne, but it's going to be a 10 second teaser after they wrap up the episode. I have this feeling that they both aren't even going to see their old friends; it will be a cutaway scene where they are somwhere else. I hope I'm wrong, I think its disappointing what they did with most of season 11, so it would be nice to have a cool final episode with Rick and Michonne reuniting with everyone, in a meaningful way. Yeah! It feels unreal that we are at the end of the regular show, I feel like I've been watching my whole life. I'm excited to see the final episode. I will say overall, I think the Walking Dead TV show did a great job compared to the comics, and was really entertaining. But there are some minor and major parts I wasn't a fan of. Most of season 11 for me was pretty disappointing, so I'm hoping for a good last episode at least. I'm curious if they'll end Fear the Walking Dead after that shows next season. From what I remember reading the comic, the Commonwealth citizens did do protests and there were riots. It wasn't the whole story though, I feel like they focused more on that in the TV show. One thing that I feel they dropped the ball on in the TV version, was the size of the Commonwealth. That was one of the big "wow" moments in the comic; to find out there is this huge city with around 50,000 people still operating, unbeknownst to the reader or our characters. It was a cool revelation. In the comic it FELT like a big place, thousands of people walking around, etc, but I never got that feeling at all in the TV show. I don't know if it was budget reasons, but the Commonwealth seems so dinky, like for most of the scenes, there's maybe a dozen or twenty people max living their lives, walking around? I was disappointed with that. The commonwealth arc in the comics did the tension and fear of major characters getting hurt or dying way better in my opinion. I agree, I love Maggie in both versions but I didn't like how they wrote her off for awhile in the TV show, felt like that didn't go anywhere. Now that she's back it's cool, but wish she had more screentime in season 11. I know what you mean, it's difficult to care about some of the characters as much, because they were secondary to main ones like Rick, Michonne, Carl, etc. It worked good in the comics because each character balances each other out I felt, whereas putting some of them front and center in this last arc on the TV show just doesn't feel right. At least we still have Daryl, Eugene, Ezekiel and a few others that make it fun to watch. Also nothing against people who do have their favorites like Yumiko, I like them too, I just think they worked way better as more minor characters in the comic version. That's really cool, I love Aqua too and many of my music playlists have bubblegum pop bands. It's weird that everyone just knows Barbie Girl when (in my opinion) they have a ton of awesome music. My oh My is great too, one of my other favorites is Dr. Jones.
