For ESB and Jedi there's really no scene where it's necessary to reference his character. He may even be in disgrace for being in command of the Death Star when it was destroyed. With the prequels we're given no backstory for seemingly any of the generals or important Empire villains not related to the Sith. George seemed to have no interest in expounding on those elements. That said, Tarkin was supposed to be featured more in EP 3 via CGI and archive footage but it was felt the tech wasn't good enough to achieve this, hence just a quickie long shot of a guy in prosthetics. It's probably for the better though. Tarkin plays a large role in Rogue One and it ends up further diminishing the competence of his character. At the very least you certainly get the impression they had a more involved history with Anakin; Owen in particular possibly being a close friend in their youth and being resentful of Anakin's decision to pass on the simple life and devote himself to the Jedi, thus getting involved in the clone wars, followed by the events which led to his "death". He seems to harbor a similar resentment to "that crazy old man" Obi-Wan, most likely casting a certain level of blame for what happened to Anakin and disparaging him so Luke would not associate for fear of similar circumstances repeating. And yet they have to have some adult appeal because adults are mainly the ones buying the toys due to younger generations not having an interest or attachment to toys like the older gens. This and Fury Road are intended to have an over the top comic aesthetic though unfortunately this one has a cheaper look to much of it despite the large budget. And no, there's no big ending action sequence. The tanker chase and the fight at the bullet farm are the big action sequences and then the rest is just finishing the story followed by a questionable ending. It's definitely a movie for people who really liked Fury Road and wanted more of that world. Well Burton's track record makes that unlikely. While I'm kind of worried it's going to be a "Dumb and Dumber To"-tier sequel, I think everyone wants this to be good or at least a fun and pleasant watch. For me... Alien Aliens Alien 3 (Assembly) Alien 3 (Theatrical) = Prometheus Covenant Romulus Resurrection I don't count the AvP movies though they'd be at the bottom anyway. Was kinda lame they didn't have a final face to face with the main villain. From her perspective I'm not sure she even knew what happened when she was defeated. =P I think she was just concerned with getting out of there as quick as possible and tying her up would be too time consuming(Assuming they even had something to bind her with). Though considering the harsh world they live in and the Furiosa's mother's skills(Which suggests shes gone through and survived a lot to be that tough/capable), she really should have killed her rather than giving in to empathy. Well, she sure paid for that mistake. =P Yeah I felt that way about him too. He's entertaining and it's a fun performance but it flies in the face of what's trying to be a serious and unnerving movie. I find it impossible to find him creepy or disturbing, which weakens the whole thing. Weird to say but it feels like Harrison Ford showing up in something these days is always a bad omen for the box office.
I think its just the gasoline supply for me, there was no other gasoline source shown or implied apart from the compound , and the little puddle on the road that Max tries mopping up with his glove. And he drives a V8. Should be driving one of those Dumb & Dumber mini scooters. Those bad guys would be out of fuel on day one. Not a lot of food about either in the desert If you make it more post-op real you get MadMax3 and everybody says "Aw this is bullshit , no V8s! vroom! vroom!"
Certainly requires a suspension of disbelief as even if they had gas, there's still general maintenance and various fluids necessary to keep the vehicles running. We're just to assume there's enough to scavenge or pillage within the wasteland for a gang constantly on the move to survive, despite that being incredibly unlikely. =P Though to give the movie some credit, we only see the gangs wasting fuel on a fruitless attack when we're first introduced to the situation. Other than when the search parties are sent out or Max delivering the rig, the gangs are just camped out and waging a war of attrition. When Max is initially surveying the area, outside the compound you can see a corral with animals and they're all eaten later in the movie. So the gangs seemingly hadn't been there very long before Max arrived. This may have been an all or nothing situation for them. If only part 3 was good enough to be mid... But yeah, it's weak but it's basically a straight to video movie. By that standard it's an ok harmless watch. My issue was it wasn't funny and relied almost entirely on character cameos. Even the premise didn't really make much sense. Jailing the cast is whatever but give me some comedy entertainment value. That just removes a barrier of entry but that doesn't mean people will see a movie if they're not interested or don't think seeing it in a theater vs streaming is worth it. Especially now. Easily Fury Road. Just from a movie perspective it's structured considerably better whereas Furiosa basically restarts after 40 minutes, has it's two major action sequences in the middle of the movie (And that's pretty much the end of the action too) and mainly functions as a story or lore fill-in piece. I think they did but since this is a movie unwilling to depict any kind of physical love to where it wont even show kissing at obviously appropriate moments, they were only willing to ambiguously imply it.
I'm sure it would be technically impressive but I'm surprised he's willing to just remake a movie that's already been remade.
Well at the end of the day Nosferatu is just Dracula with a very unique/famous design for the Count, so it's really just another in a loooong line of adaptations of Stoker's novel. Probably wont be since Eggers usually only gives lip service to that corporate junk while not including it in his movies. If it ends up that way it will probably be some statement on patriarchal domination over the female sex or some tired cliche like that but this is supposed to be a passion project for him, so I don't think he'll waste the opportunity on something so basic and trite.
Looks like a mix of his last 3 movies. I don't get why everyone is so excited about this. Nothing about the trailer was that impressive and the overuse of loud string music was obnoxious
Every trailer sucks since they all follow the same lazy formula and staples, like the aforementioned sound cues and cheap jumps. It's rare when they try something different with a trailer so you always have to keep that in mind when viewing them. But people are interested because Eggers is very strong with tone and visuals and there's belief he can do an interesting take on the beyond done-to-death Dracula story. The more control of a project he gets the worse he is. He's a visual guy wheras his storytelling ability is not great. When working with other people's scripts/material he can make some decent stuff but when he has too much creative control he makes total crap.
