Thanks for the extensive breakdown! I agree about the general appraisal of King adaptations. Hell, I still enjoy watching Pet Sematary, but watching it as an adult, I do realize that this movie is just not that good. I'll have to find a copy of the film then, if only to check out the beginning at the very least. I really do enjoy Timothy Hutton, but haven't quite seen as much of his filmography as I'd like. I actually prefer King's signature "extraneous text" as you put it (it definitely made The Langoliers a lot better than its made-for-tv counterpart lol). I'll have to see what I think about how he went at The Dark Half then. That'll be an interesting comparison. I busted up laughing when I saw her just straight up kano-fatality one of the prisoners. I was like, "well, I guess she's a little bit stronger than a normal human" I'm disappointed that I've never see the film you mentioned. I'll have to check it out. Any thoughts on the book? You spammed multiple boards to post your absurd theory and ask ppl to prove you wrong. I actually love when movies flip expectations around. It's hard, inevitable part of advertising. How will I gauge my interest in movies without seeing a trailer? But then I love going into movies without a trailer too. I do that with a lot of films and I pretty much always find it more preferential. No expectations. No spoilers. Lol I remember I watched Rec off of a sentence lmao. Agreed. Cancel culture sucks. Lol Lmao. Misadvertising has no bearing on film quality. Imagine suggesting a movie like dark city is bad because the ads failed to convey it. The fake out was a natural progression of the plot. Madison's taking control of her own mind. But you're right, a suicide act could have been fitting too. And yeah, she's in jail now. Lmao But it was an awful observation. Movie aged just fine. That would be awesome lmao I busted up laughing at the "time to cut out the cancer" line. I was reminded of hobo with a shotgun's "we're all dirty copss" *zoom to policeman face* I hope not. Better not be some bullshit about the cop providing the fifth name read. I remember someone on this board saying this film was unintentionally funny. I'm like, the film's prologue kinda established the low key goofiness of this film. The doctor was so overacting. And lol the dramatic shot of the hospital by the sea. The same way he learned electrokinesis, and used that to generate a voice that can communicate through radio and phone waves. Magic. Lol Gabriel's consciousness is separate. There's a guy in this board who seems to have taken offense that James Wan tricked him to pull off a plot twist. Lmao Dude probably got upset at the sixth sense too. "Bruce Willis totally had dinner with his wife.. m night is so dishonest!" The parkour chase scene in the underground where kekoa was running after Gabriel was when I figured it was Madison's body. Or at least had an initial suspicion. I also didn't realize the backwards behavior. I legit just thought Gabriel was handicapped per the films prologue lol
but because of James Wan's dishonesty in how he lied and misdirected the audience with the invisible killer on the couch scene and Madison being chased by a black ghost...
Oh god wait a second. You're that weirdo that gets personally offended when movies have twists. OH mY GoD sO diSHoNesT. Just lmao Lol. You're using anecdotal footage to make an observation about women when your anecdotes are not even an accurate depiction of men either. A ten lb gap can make all the difference in a 1v1. That's why I said the language was sloppy. It's silly cinematic nonsense. But most explicitly, Gabriel is described as a parasitic twin. Other than the title, the overdramatic line "time to cut out the cancer", and the initial reference to a teratoma...all other descriptions and behaviors ultimately point to Gabriel being a parasitic twin. Gabriel isn't a tumor that gained sentience. The fuck?
