I apologize. I realize it's the wrong thread. I mostly lurk on this site and don't post much, but I've been reading your Rittenhouse threads recently, so when I realized that it was you, I couldn't help but chime in a little on the subject.
Rittenhouse was on private property, until the mob lit a dumpster on fire and shoved that rolling, flaming dumpster towards the little car dealership he was trying to protect. He only went out on a public street to put the fire out!
That's it. Thats why.
Then the mob got pissed at him for putting it out, and started threatening and chasing him. Eventually they started surrounding and assaulting him. He continued to retreat and run towards cops, but yes, he panicked when they actually started to hit, kick, throw shit, and aim guns at him.
I agree that a trained professional wouldn't have killed anybody under normal circumstances with backup, but these weren't normal circumstances, and a cop in the exact same situation with no backup likely would have done the exact same thing, to protect himself.
He was definitely in over his head, but that doesn't mean he was in the wrong. If anything, that makes him even braver for being there in the first place, to try and defend the community.
Look, NOBODY wants high-school kids patrolling the streets with rifles, but the actual professionals, the cops, were forced to stand down due to the cause of the protests/riots. Again, these were NOT normal circumstances.
And no, no cop would kill someone for lighting a dumpster on fire, and that's not why Kyle killed anyone either. That's just the reason he was targeted by the mob, and was eventually forced to defend himself lethally.
My favorites are:
'Spaceballs'
'Young Frankenstein'
'History of the World"
Edit: 'Life Stinks' would get honorable mention. Hillarious.
Uhhhhhhh, Okie doke. Kyle Rittenhouse was a stand-up kid, though. All he did was try to protect community people and property. Then after doing his civic duty and putting out a fire, he got chased and jumped by like 50 rioting, burning, looting maniacs and criminals, and he did what he had to do to stay alive while he frantically ran towards the cops to escape his own murder.
My fault!
That's also Suge Knight's real name. Don't think he's gay, dude.
You're kidding, right? That's a full cup!!
Ghost? I thought that was just an average New York cabbie.
Honestly, I've seen many of his "me talking" things, and this one is pretty much the only one worth watching.
But it is sooooo worth watching. It's like 4 hours long, but every second of it is captivating and hillarious.
Alllllllllrighty.
Lol, exactly. Just look at Spring Break the last few years in Florida, Georgia and Louisina.
I was angry about the bait and switch too, for a long time. Still am, to a certain extent. It really wasn't a Mad Max movie.
Ultimately though, it was a fucking awesome movie set in that universe with Mad Max in it every step of the way. I'll take it.
I definitely agree with your point, but at some point, I personally believe it will have to come back around.
Nah. It was worth it though. I loved it, and I hope they make more.
EXACTLY.
Good point. To clarify, I think he did it, on a subconscious level, to remain in high school as long as possible. On the surface, conscious level, I definitely agree that he did it to look tough or cool in front of his peers.
I don't think he would have eaten Vernon's shit if he hadn't had an audience that day, though. I'll agree to disagree on that.
Do you have a better idea?
No idea what you're saying here.
Nope. It doesn't.
Reality only dictates reality, and that's ultimately the only thing that is true, and matters.
Emotions are flimsy and subjective and illogical and affected by trauma and past experiences and bias and are often wrong .
Again, that's why we have psychotherapy.
To help people overcome their ridiculous emotions and hopefully come back to Earth and reality.
I never told you that that's not how you feel. I fully acknowledge that that's how you feel.
I'm saying that your feelings are wrong, and you probably need some therapy to help you understand that you're not responsible for other people's crimes.
Yeah, they probably do. But it's not right that they do. And that's my point.
They probably have been in therapy for the last 20 years so that they could finally understand that they have nothing to be ashamed about, and that they're not responsible for their father's crimes.
Get it? Emotions don't dictate reality. They are what they are, but they're wrong, a lot of the time. And that's why we have therapy.
