I plan on seeing it, Indiana Jones was the first action hero that I remember seeing as a kid. That has stuck with me, the character is awesome. I think the Last Crusade was such a great ending to that trilogy and I wish they would have stopped with that. Espesically playing monday morning quarterback looking back on Crystal Skull they did the character dirty. So I am apprehensive about this one, but imagine there being a new movie out with your absolute favorite character from childhood and choosing not to go see it. I can only hope its good, but I don't hold out a lot of hope. That is a great idea, So many more "reactions" that could have been done if that were the case. Could have even gotten some kids interested in science that way. I went to see it last night. I know; straight, white male. But I heard all the bad stuff being talked about this movie, and pretty much the first half, yes I did not like it. It was boring to me, and this post is going to make someone mad but who cares. The movie really picks up after she gets to the castle and she and the prince are going out on their carriage ride. That put a smile on my face and I actually started caring about the movie. Their boat ride during Kiss the Girl was great. The older I get I realize there are mixed couples out there, and there are different cultures which you learn in elementary school. I don't care that she was black/mixed. I thought her hair was cool, I always liked dreads. The animation was weird at times, maybe not bad, I get they wanted realistic looking fish, but it was tough to wrap my head around. I was hoping for a more recognizable flounder from the cartoon movie. Scuttle in this movie was bad, I love Awkwafina but I think this was a misfire casting her. And that Scuttlebutt song of hers was horrible. Scuttle didn't need a song, and Prince Eric didn't need a song. I was so mad they didn't have a scene with a chef trying to cook Sebastian. But I am glad that Ursula got huge at the end and basically had the same ending as the cartoon. This movie should have been so much shorter, it was like a story of two halves for me, I couldn't wait until it was over in the first half, but they got my attention in the second half. All in all, I have some gripes about it, but nothing like people are saying about it. I give it a 6/10. I tend to agree with you there, seeing is believing for me too. But I have read quite a few accounts and listened to a podcast recently called The Exorcist files which is really a good listen. But from what I read and gather that the demons can basically make it like your eyes are playing tricks on you. If that makes any sense like there are accounts of people seeing next twisting and body parts being morphed and making it look like they're broken when an actuality they're not. But I am on the fence though, I would like this subject to be true, but until I see something first hand, I find it hard sometimes believing all these stories. Same thing with ghosts with me. I hear a ton of accounts of paranormal activity. But until I see something, I can say it's real. I agree, I went to see it last night. You are so right about Hollywood trying to sensationalize these cases, and upping the ante on every exorcism movie that comes out, trying to out do the original. This one was good, I liked Russell Crow, I even liked the story along the Spanish Inquisition. I am somewhat ignorant of other religions, I know things happened, but not really why they happened, if that makes sense? I like the subject matter, although in theory it should terrify me, but I am going to see if I can find some books on Father Amourth, and recently I found a podcast called "The Exorcist Files", That is very interesting to me. Yes I did see it in theaters. Sort of a mystery at my theater, it just played one day last week and only one showing. Which I can understand, I heard of this movie being made like 2 years ago, and all the while I am thinking to myself; This thing is never going to get made. But here we are! I don't think I need a spoiler warning, I don't think too many people are going to see it, but at the end when it showed Pooh sending the bees to take out that one guy, I had to think about what was happening for a bit to figure out what I was seeing. I had no idea he could command bees to do his bidding... I do no believe for one second that woman was able to lift Piglet up in order to chain him up and get a rope around his neck. He was huge, and she looked pretty small, but you are right, all of a sudden he was down and chained up. Rabbit and Owl, I can only imagine for some reason they think they want to do another movie to include them. Since apparently nothing is going to kill Pooh, he maybe calls in his buddies now that Piglet is gone and wants to do a lot more damage to people, I don't know. I kind of hope that is not the case. I was also thinking about this, the sweeping exterior shots of the entire ship, like when it was docked before it shipped off, it looked very rough. I absolutely think the 4K I could pick out a lot more issues. Also I love miniatures when they are done well, maybe now with the better technology they could have made the water looking better when the back of the ship was sinking. The water was the thing that stuck out most and made it look really bad for me. Because the scale of the ship next to the water spray and waves didn't match up. Like the blu ray when I watched the original Exorcist, I could see the wires that were holding the character up when she was supposed to be levitating. The dvd quality when I watched it I couldn't see them at all. I hope they remove them for that 4K release at least. I agree, when I was young watching this it was great and something to see. I went last night again and it is really showing its age. The sinking looked exactly like you described. There were some shots that I was thinking if I was actually seeing the same movie as I did long ago. But that was 1997 technology though I suppose. Looked good at the time I suppose. I went last night, and most of the people were sobbing/sniffling, whatever. I just watched this last night, and I agree. What a fun movie, I knew nothing about it except for the synopsis. I didn't know I would be laughing out loud at times. I loved it and had a great time! Yeah for me its harder to think that even though whaling has been banned for a decades on earth, but yet it is still going on mainly by China, but somehow they are doing it because they are saying its "research". That being a said, I find it hard to believe that they say they only take the half gallon of brain juice, and do nothing with the rest of the "whale". Or did I miss it if they actually used the rest of it for something, seems like a huge waste. I agree, I just got back from seeing it. It was shocking from the first minute of screen time, but I think it is a very special movie. I went to see this one last night. It was great. It played out more like a Saw movie to me, it was very entertaining and funny. I agree, I watched last night and I honestly haven't had a movie in a while that I wanted a movie to end so badly. The best moment in the movie for me was near the end when she was confessing at the table to her friend. That was a great moment. Everything before that though, I got bored. A friend of mine mentioned it a while back, and seeing your post I got to looking and there is one a good drive away from my house, but after seeing the crazy stuff that is 4DX, I got my ticket for tomorrow night. It sounds absolutely bonkers, I am in! It will be worth checking out at least once. I am pumped up for it! It really did seem out of place for all the other previews that were before it. In my theater we saw 5 previews and then this one, then straight to the movie. It was creepy. What I thought, is that once I figured it out that it was going to be a cult movie, is that this was the demon Paimon's link to the family. Since earlier in the movie it said that the demon was only partially inside the girl; the Grandma said she always wanted her to be a boy. So in that way I thought the "ceremony, or process of which he could come to the world was incomplete. Maybe that the girl was dead and he was now going into the boy he was getting stronger, and someone told me that the demon Paimon can kind of control the elements: earth, water, air, and fire. So I think it was the demon just maybe playing around or making Ellen think she was going crazy like where I thought the movie was going to go based on the title. I don't know how to type it out what I am meaning. Ultimately this is one of my favorite movies. I laughed out loud when his hairpiece got messed up when they were in the garage. His acting, for me at least, was borderline over the top with his motions and hands. But I think it was good. I guess I am in the minority and I liked the movie. Well, it didn't bother me. It's funny because the main character is dressed in some old maybe 80's clothes, it seemed odd because we don't see a lot of plain clothes characters, It's mostly uniformed officers because it takes place in a police station. That I cannot comment on, I never saw that one. But I am sure it draws comparison's to lots of movies, or events. Heck I had someone compare it somewhat to the Alamo. But yeah kind of a "backed into a corner having to fend off bad guys" kind of movie.
