I just watched it and rated it an above average 8 on IMDB.com, just below the 1997 version which I rated a 9. I was pleasantly surprised by the 1953 version which I hadn't seen previously. I plan on watching the British version "A night to remember" next... Definitely interested in the true story, thank you 👍 It's loosely based..as in inspired by the epic story of the mad trapper, but Death Hunt is one hell of a movie in it's own right👍 Good find👍 I need to start binge watching some of the older western TV series. Did you like him in Outlaws from around the same time period? The only person that remotely looks like him is Aaron Rodgers. I see that this one and Ernest Scared Stupid are his highest-rated movies on IMDB.com. I haven't seen Scared Stupid yet but I will, come Halloween.. I need to put this one in my bluray player again pronto... They aired in the mid '80s - mid '90s in Sacramento CA. Wonderful Christmastime. This was the one I grew up watching during Christmas in the 80s-early 90s. It's a fine version of Dicken's story, though I haven't seen the earlier ones. It was released on Warner Brother's Classic Christmas Favorites dvd set of 10 Christmas specials. Yes I own this Warner Brothers set. It has ten specials including this one. Warner Brothers currently own the rights. It was a single bullet. 1. Rounders 2. School Ties 3. The Bourne Identity I graduated high school in the early 90s and I remember an example of being invited by my buddy to a privileged local golfing club that he and his parents were members of a few times during the late 80s/early 90s. Mind you, I am white middle class and I recall other members of the club (usually older) looking down on non-members no matter the race. In my case I wasn't well versed in all their social customs but I remember you couldn't wear a hat in the dining hall no matter if it was lunch and the conversations at the dinners could make you feel cringe because you knew you weren't a member nor did you belong to their upperclass social circles. So basically I just kept my mouth shut if I wasn't spoken to. They always had the best of everything at the bar and I also recall at the annual 4th of July outdoor function on the greens it was all you could eat lobster and prime rib or steak and shrimp so I didn't complain too much about their social etiquette rules since the food and drinks were billed to my buddy's family membership. So yes, there is class prejudice no matter the race. Yes he is. You make a good point of might as well add-in Ewan Macgregor in place of older Alec Guinness which maybe was less necessary since Alec was a part of all three movies in the original trilogy. Perhaps this will be done in the future... Elijah Wood or Sean Astin.
