It seems to be an American default position to assume that anyone else from other countries is jealous. This simply isn’t the case. And it’s ignorant to assume so.

In order to talk about identity and heritage it’s natural to talk about demographics.
Diversity you may be a strength, but it can also be an Achilles heel.
Then you talk about me using the internet. Come on now you’re better than that. Am I going to ask if you’ve made a phone call recently because the inventor was a Scot? No. It’s not accomplishing anything.
I’m not denigrating the achievements of American inventors, regardless of their heritage but curious how a young country - with so many different groups - wrestled with its own identity.
I believe the happiness and greatness of America rest on ethnic kinship. But can Americans see themselves as brothers and sisters rather that groups of exiles, settlers and groups at odds with each others core fundamental moral values.
But what is plain is that America’s defend themselves with an almost fanatical zeal.
In another post I was told Great Britain was losing its national identity to multi culturism. I agreed. I didn’t feel the need to fend off any slights to my nation with a bullish stance. The world is a very flawed place. I won’t stick up for any nation blindly - even my own - but would rather discuss said flaws with a rational outlook.
How many of these inventors were of British decent? Look at the sheer size of America, of course you’re going to have many inventions.
My post was about identity and heritage.
We’re not going to play a game of who invented what at make lists. It’s a fruitless exercise.
I see you craftily sidestepped the issues of American all but perpetual war.
But the real American war is on drugs. A war that you are losing.
And it’s not all about one or two bigots. There is a deeper chasm of hatred bred into disparate groups. Plenty are drawn to white-racist while the left cling fervently to racial identity politics. And in between the tail is wagging the dog.
America is an idea built on idea taken from 18th century enlightenment philosophy. There is no “average” American. Not some fat balding middle-aged bozo, any more than a Korean-American man selling tulips wrapped in plastic, who still doesn’t speak English after x generations.
No, America is bereft of identity, America is bereft of heritage. America is an idea.
