Me too. I would love to see a good British version.
Still wondering about this
Maybe? She was awful in The Winds of War, too, more than a decade later. I think she was hired for her appearance for both projects (it was mentioned in the press). Jane Seymour replaced her in the sequel to TWOW, War and Remembrance.
I watched reruns of Peyton Place during the late 1980s on the local Fox station that needed it for daytime filler. I was addicted to that show.
I never got into What’s Up Doc? Ditto with Barry Lindon. I was really into Love Story when I was a teen, but I can’t watch it anymore. (Ali Magraw is so wooden.)
It’s rather surprising that it isn’t streaming for free in the US on any of the ad supported apps, like tubi or freevee.
If she hadn’t stuck her nose in, most of the negative stuff wouldn’t have happened.
How can it be two names? Didn’t MM tell Oprah it was one? It seems suspiciously convenient that Scabies has taken aim at two targets, including the one person MM has previously made bogus accusations about because she is so threatened by the Princess of Wales and wants to ruin her.
Silly, isn’t it?
Chug when a Cazalet guy gets someone pregnant
Probably because The Crown is already on that.
Plus she keeps tempting fate: tangling with Bertha, unguarded moments in front of her husband, showing her true colors, and being indiscreet.
If you’re in the US, you still have the rest of today to sign up for the Max deal: $2.99/month for six months.
Yes, she’s very entertaining! She’s her own worse enemy. Her downfall will be delicious.
Interesting, on subsequent rewatches I have found their romance more compelling than I did initially.
Great post. Anna and Bates had a lot of fans until the first of their many tragic storylines. Anna is still my favorite character.
No, Fellowes was never going to kill off either of them. The hospital storyline was Violet’s last great hurrah. Fellowes wrote some excellent scenes for her and she acted them superbly. The scene in the library when the house is open to paying guests is outstanding, followed by the even more excellent scene in Robert’s bedroom.
Neither film was Oscar worthy. Someone of Robert Altman’s statures, and talents, would have to have been at the helm.
The movies were fun, and teeming with much-appreciated fan service. I am very pleased we got them, and the happy endings for the characters. The films were very Downton, as they should be.
🙄 Far a long time the possibility of a Downton movie was not very good.
What a douche.
Yikes.
That’s the way. You’ve nailed it.
