Yeah most people with schizophrenia think that as well
Not really subtle
I liked it way way more upon 2nd watch. Totally appreciate this movie now
Recent movies that stand out as having a little more going on are Color Out of Space, Nope, Mandy, Joker, some of the A24's.
I did end up rewatching Pearl cause I had forgotten a lot about it since first viewing. It was just ok. What they did wasn't that impressive imo. X was the better movie. You can tell that Ti had a better understanding and more time to prepare for that film over Pearl. Pearl was made very quickly and probably one of the reasons Goth was brought in to help. I think it shows in the movie. Not saying they did terrible, just not something amazing.
Thank you. Great analysis!
Yep. Good points
I don't think he was "trying" to kill him either, but he was definitely trying to punish him. Police often have the mentality that they are judge and jury. This is amplified by things like the danger around their job, various bs they witness in the judicial system, and a power complex as seen in the Stanford Prison Experiment.
There is a bit of a grey area as you say because a perpetrator could be uncontrollable for a wide range of times. This article you shared does explain that officers are aware of the dangers of this position and understand they need to use caution when doing so. https://apnews.com/article/was-officer-knee-on-george-floyd-neck-authorized-639cab5a670173ea9cc311db4386abf2#What%20Do%20Attorneys%20Say?
Chauvin clearly did not use caution. How do we know this? Watch the video. Floyd is basically motionless at a certain point, crying, and about to die. The defense tried to make the argument that the crowd acted as a potential threat, but this defense failed.
For better or for worse we now have so much technology that the entirety of this event was recorded from multiple angles. It made a pretty easy case for the prosecution.
Multiple witnesses in the trial said it is not approved for any prolonged period of time. Past the point of death I think should be long enough, don't you?
Since Quinta is a comedian first, I think she was just trying to make a joke that is somewhat relevant. (people were bitching about diversity in Friends about a year ago)
I don't know her as a person so I can't say for sure, but she created a pretty smart show completely different from Friends.
He's got some good ones and he is beloved by many
Last paragraph is well said
Jack who?
but it looks horrible from a graphic design standpoint
It is a good movie. Seen it a few times since
Other commenters missed the point of this movie. It definitely is an homage to 70's horror. If you watch Texas Chainsaw you will notice a lot of similarities. The plot is also reminiscent of that time. This has nothing to do with 80's horror. The 80's is going to be explored in Maxxxine. The movie is about how the media we watch within an era influences our decisions and personalities. That's why Pearl was the way it was.
This movie also had new, more sympathetic villains than what we typically see in this day and age.
ignant
Is there any of his movies that don't heavily rely on cgi? Guy is already been doing "animated" films his whole career. I hate this little weasel
do you still like him?
That's certainly a dumb assertion. None of them have watchable action, really?
I agree. I remember there being a lot of hype around this movie when it came out. Saw it around 2017 and felt it was just really boring.
