My impression of Voldemort is that he was obsessed with racial purity (because of his own upbringing), whereas Grindelwald is more about wizards stepping into the open to take control of world events (for unexplained reasons). Same end goal.
David Yates (or someone) basically said that Grindelwald is supposed to be a more insidious, elegant villain, who rules through his persuasive ideology ... compared to Voldemort, who is basically a "thug" who rules through fear and brute power.
It sounds great in theory but I just don't feel it in the dialogue or in any of the actors who portrayed the character, especially Johnny Depp. There are sooo many British actors who would have been more effective in that role.

It's extremely likely that "Life" started out as a "Venom" movie.
1) The screenwriters, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, admitted they wrote a script for "Venom". Wernick and Reese had pitched an original story idea for the film to Sony, which Reese described as a "realistic, grounded, a little more dark take on the character".
2) Ruben Fleischer, who worked with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick on "Zombieland" went on to direct "Venom"
3) The director of "Life", Daniel Espinosa, is now directing the "Venom" spin-off, "Morbius".
4) Jake Gyllenhaal (who essentially played John Jameson in "Life") is now playing Mysterio in "Spider-Man: Far From Home".

Sure: https://www.youtube.com/maketheswitchAU/
It's just audio, though. No video.

I didn't mind the lack of subtitles, but I had some issues with other aspects of the film. I wrote a review of it here: https://www.maketheswitch.com.au/article/review-a-prayer-before-dawn-tough-but-insubstantial
The lack of subtitles were to make the viewer feel as confused and isolated as the character, as the only white guy in the all-Thai prison.

Likewise.
I just hope the sequel doesn't iron out the good stuff (Hardy's performance, the sense of fun) due to all the harsh reviews. Sony needs to keep moving away from Marvel's way of film-making.

It is awesome, especially once Cage cuts loose after the first hour and gets his battle-axe...
It's one of the best films that I've watched this year.
I think the humour (mainly from Eddie / Venom) and strangeness of the film is underrated.

Thank you :)
I was actually expecting more of L3: for her to have more "attitude" and a deeper relationship with Lando. Instead, she delivered a few lukewarm jokes and died. Like a lot of things in "Solo", the character was overhyped.
I had zero expectations for the Kessel Run (I'm not a big "Star Wars" fan), so it didn't bother me.

You could see a few of the jokes / character banter from the original directors, too, but I doubt I would have noticed them if I hadn't been reading about the production dramas.

From memory (I watched "Wind River" at a film festival last year), Olsen's character couldn't even find her way into a car-park at the start of the film and directed the local police into a trap at the climax of the film ... Renner's character had to bail her out on both occasions.
Her character never had a moment where she adapted to her environment or added anything to the investigation besides her FBI credentials.
Just my opinion, though.

Anything with the "MARVEL" stamp will attract eyeballs and unusually kind reviews. I doubt "Venom" would have been nearly as fun if it had to follow the Marvel formula in terms of tone, cinematography, and acting, though.

After 20 or so installments, I'm just tired of the MCU formula, basically. I won't bore you with a rant ;)
"Venom" reminded me of the first two "Blade" films: imperfect but hugely entertaining. I even laughed a few times, which surprised me... I'm used to the "polite chuckle" style of humour from superhero films.
Why don't you actually post your review here when you say here is my review? Doing that is trollish behavior.
My reviews are lengthy. Also, I'd like people to check out the site that I write for.
I'm not sure how that is "trollish", but if you don't want to read my review of "Leave No Trace", I'm not twisting your arm.
Have a good one.

It was pretty amusing, considering Michelle Williams' "meh" performance
