That is..deeply disturbing 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m still getting to know people so I’m in blissful ignorance thankfully but I guess I would avoid someone if they were particularly smeggy. I’m imagining a scenario where someone has been listening to this song for years as background music and then one day they actually properly listen to the lyrics and ‘boom.’ Very effective song. Agreed! I’m not sure what it is. Whether it’s the imagery it evokes, Plant/Denny’s ghostly wailing or the knowledge of Sandy Denny’s untimely death that gives it an ‘atmosphere’ but I do find it to be quite a haunting song. Tubular Bells is a great choice! Three that spring to mind right this moment are John Wayne Gacy Jr. by Surfjan Stevens, Fotheringay by Fairport Convention and Lullaby by The Cure. Three creepy but effective songs for different reasons. They tell a story really well I think. I love how much variety there is in Robert Plant’s voice. His harmonising with Sandy Denny in The Battle of Evermore is beautiful yet eerie. That doesn’t surprise me at all 😂 I think even Dreyfuss himself admitted to being a huge pain in the ass when he was younger. Thanks for the welcome ☺️ Yeah I have a similar issue with scenes where the cast are ‘eating’ on screen. By eating I mean, pushing the food around on their plates and staring at it for a few minutes without ever actually touching it. Once you notice it you can’t stop. I’ll be looking out for this guy the next time I see it 😂 it’s somehow worse when they’re tied to a big franchise like James Bond. From what I’ve read, they filmed the entirety of Much Ado About Nothing (the 1993 film) in Florence and they made it look so sumptuous and romantic. I remember wanting to live there every time I watched it as a kid and still do to this day. It’s pretty inspirising that you actually travelled to Thailand. Did it live up to expectations? Get on that phone now! Tell him I want an audition as an extra so I can become infamously horrendous in the next big franchise 😂 In all seriousness that sounds like a pretty fun work life. I bet he had a lot of interesting stories to tell (when he wasn’t being shy on the subject) Agreed 😂 it’s hilarious. I mean I know that it isn’t technically their fault how they’re being directed or how they’re dressed but it’s like they expect the viewer not to notice or something and it’s blatantly obvious at times. Thanks for the welcome. ☺️ I just had to mention the subject as I was watching a film earlier and there was an extra in amongst a group of two other extras at a bar. He was chatting enthusiastically to the guy he was sitting with whilst the other guy (ignoring him completely), was seemingly deep into conversation with the other guy working at the bar. 😂 I liked your anecdote as well. Did your friend work on any big projects? I may be wrong in how I describe this but those annoying wide angle/close up shots of people’s faces. They were used a lot in early to late 90’s films I think but I find them to be incredibly jarring and unpleasant to look at. Yeah, I completely agree. It’s exaggerated rhetoric for something that is undeserving of it half the time. The literal meaning of these words have apparently been lost through overuse. Absolutely. When something is absolute it means literally just that. Saying that you’re absolutely freezing or that a missed goal is an absolute catastrophe is a load of honk and drives me nuts :P This whole thread is comedy gold haha! I have to second this. Psycho is one of the few films that I believe to be fully worth the hype. Could you count Buried as one? You only ever see one character on screen but he speaks to other people via the phone. Too many, especially as I get older! Although the ones that stick out at this moment are:- The Elephant Man Remains of the Day The Colour Purple A.I: Artificial Intelligence
