Talk about non-existent subtext !! If she is a lesbian, not a problem ! But this seems like a classic case of reading too much into something that isnt there Scrotie McBoogerBalls would know of this If the support group scene really triggers you ... then its definitely your problem and not the movie's. It was about as subtle as a scene can be While I love both the movies, TDK can be enjoyed as a standalone movie which cannot be said about Endgame. You will need a lot of background info from at least 5-6 other MCU movies for it to make sense and be enjoyed. Both movies did what they set out to do superbly and are highly entertaining. But overall, TDK wins I thought Thor - Hulk chemistry (carrying on from Ragnarok and Infinity war) was one of the best parts of the movie. Especially seeing how the roles were reversed. In Ragnarok, Hulk is having a crisis and Thor helps him out and gives him a purpose to get off his A$$. Then Bruce banner has a crisis in IW while Thor is at his strongest. And finally, after the snap, Thor gets into crisis mode while Professor Hulk has resolved all his demons and is finally given a purpose by Prof hulk to get off his a$$ and feel needed I thought the whole hulk-thor friendship arc was very well rounded up and given a very satisfactory conclusion here. Loved it In any case, I got hooked into MCU because of these little moments more than the epic action set pieces I found it silly The general crowd enjoyed it Nothing else to make of it I am sorry .. what? His weakness is the color yellow? How does that even work !! Sounds ridiculous. Will google it at some point Quite rightly said I had no idea who or what IronMan or Captain america or Thor were when their movies came out. I only knew of Spiderman, Batman, Superman, Hulk, Wolverine (again all from existing movies more than anything else) MCU has been so successful because they made a major effort to pull in the regular, non-comic book reading audience. [without Iron Man in the next Avengers movie it would slice off 2/3 of the audience or more , an Avengers movie without Cap Iron Man Thor is not going to make 2 billions] Right .. thats what I said pumpkin. Hence, RDJ's worth for an Iron man role is a lot higher than it would be for a regular movie Uhhh... wow You must be new to this world. Its basic economic With every Iron Man role he portrays, the worth of that character increases and would eventually result in a proportional or even exponential increase in the worth of RDJ as Iron Man. Imagine if they replaced RDJ with some other actor as Iron Man for the Avengers movie - I m sure it would slice off 1/3rd of the audience that movie got. The demand increases while the supply (RDJ) remains the same i.e. massive increase in the cost for that supply RDJ doing a non IronMan movie would fetch him a regular fee (higher than what he would have got pre-Iron Man, but still not astronomical like for another Iron Man movie) and he will still be able to get regular movies You make a great point about Casting The casting was perfect in almost all the movies. Guys like Paul Rudd, Cumberbatch, Robert Downey, ScaJo, Ruffalo, Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, etc. have an instant likability factor even off screen and are oozing with charisma. Their interviews show that they are fairly grounded people despite being celebs. It helps when the audience can connect to not just the character but the actor as well. Agreed ! the novelty factor is what is going to be missing If anyone can deliver though, it is MCU - they have managed to keep their slate fresh even despite umpteen origin stories and crossover events If they dont do something fresh though, and try to follow the same pattern I think it wont bear as much success. DCEU is prime example of that. They thought they could simply put in a bunch of superheroes into a movie and reap the rewards, but it is never that simple. They couldnt even get the GENERAL audience (non-fans) to care about extremely popular characters like Batman and Superman. You need long term vision and the willingness to take calculated risks to get the movie going audience invested to this extent As a MCU fan who hasnt read any comic books, I actually loved the earth specific stories more than the cosmic stories that they showed Cant get too excited about them going off-world and about new cosmic beings, unless something special is delivered [but thats just me] I agreed with you ... only 300million to be made in the next couple of months !! #UnderperformerOfTheDecade You seem like a special kind of troll Relentless !! Oh no ... I could not get your validation of my post Woe is me ! Because.. 1. Getting a main character killed apparently "RAISES the stakes" for some weird reason according to the netizens 2. Disney wouldnt be able to afford Downey Jr.'s fee for another full fledged movie Was it silly? Yes Did it get a loud cheer from the crowd? It sure did Based on the loud cheer, it looks like the directors managed to achieve what they set out to with this 5 second shot of girl power. Sorry to hear this scene made you physically ill. Hope you did not ruin the movie for the people around you with your physical illness post this scene. Agreed ! It had a 1.2 billion opening ... and now it will only add another 300 million in its overall run #FACT Quite agree with you These 22 odd movies have plenty of novelty factor. Relatable Origin stories with relatable characters, plenty of humor, epic cross over events etc. Now all this will just not work to pull in massive audiences again. They will have to bring out other factors (not entirely sure what) to make it an event movie. Simple crossovers just wont work. I somehow dont see how Spiderman or Capt Marvel can be as relatable as Tony, Bruce, Steve, Nat and even Odinson Thor. GOTG crowd was also very relatable despite being a band of misfits. I hope they give an Epic GOTG 3 movie - especially now that they have Nebula for company. She was the dark horse in Endgame and I loved how she got such a big chunk of role in a movie otherwise focused on the original Avengers (and rightly so) Oh right ... I forgot that they will now have access to the X-men and FF clan as well. I guess that will hype up some interest, if done well
