Exactly, plus they literally deconstructed and killed their own concept. So the first purge was just a fake purge with militias wipping out ghettos which make it super boring from day one and "normal" people saves the day but the the purge nonetheless spread to the whole country which makes zero sense.
Yes, it was an accident. So Paul Newman was right, he would not have killed himself but he felt guilty cause there is no way he could Believe it was an accident now.
Cause he's a good director. BR2049 was not bad, just a flop
Jacques Demy's work is great but I think La La Land was just as good. Chazelle was probably inspired by Demi but don't forget it's incredibly one of Chazelle first full-length movie and how Young he is for that industry. Can't wait to see more of him.
I agree a casting director has more of an obligation but she still acted harsh on the guy. He's still a human being and she did not need to be overly rude, at least the way I saw it.
Giving the movies he played in, no Wonder he didn't like it... Entitle to his opinion sure, but maybe he could do it more toned.
I try to avoid musical and it took me a while to watch La La Land but I need to admit I really enjoyed it and it's worth the watch. The story is pretty plain but the movie in itself is a masterpiece. I really recommend it. Much better than The Artist even if it was a nice homage.
1. Shooting the cop with a toy gun was stupid but I didn't feel it was exaggerated. The guys did look stupid and thought he could get away;
2. At first I though it was an unspoken code of honor but after some time it just looked like they all forgot about the toy gun, which did not make much sense. Big plothole there imo;
3. The 3rd cop did look like the weakest link of the gang so it seems plausible he did not catch it was a game.
It wasnt the same person who warned her and the person who sent the children.
I guess the reality is that the forest isnt Dangerous at all.
@Onefilmlover : your analysis is really ineresting. I agree that the Oscars they give often the best movie award to a film promoting Hollywood. I would add they also have a bias for movies promoting californian lifestyle or some political agenda. I need to admit these movies are usually good or very good but does not seem to be the best american movie of the year based on the movie itself.
Good post
PI said he had French courses, not English ones. So they were clearly impregnated with French culture first. And these kids would already know English instead ? I doubt it.
When PI is smuggling at the end of the boat, you can clearly see the body of the Zebra lying there semi-hidden.
She's tin like a model, it's very difficult to Believe she could endure such physical training and especially beat seasoned warriors (i.e.: musular men soldiers). I'm for equality but there is still important physical différences between sexes which doesn't make too much sense. But hey, it's a movie so I enjoyed it !
1. Good catch, modern marathon was indeed not invented in that time though the Antiquity legend is that a Greek ran from Marathon to Anthen to let his people know that the persians where defeated;
2. Considering the legend of Marathon, I think we can accept even in Antiquity it could meant running fast;
3. The roman commander specifically told his troops no to move whatever would come out from the wood, anticipating a fierce ennemy, so they didn't move from the fireballs. But yeah, it would have been easy to dodge and it would have been clever to do it. It probably costed them the battle since they didn't adapt to what they didn't anticipate.
4. They didn't show how the Picts got the fireballs moving but it's not that hard. They just all wait, then burn them at the same time with some kind of fuel and move them with some leather nests or something (check Spartacus from Stanley Kubric who shows it if I remember correctly).
5. The fireballs didnt seem to be meant to burn for long but I admit they just disappeared from the screen. Script issue!
It makes you want to be a barbarian !
@Kingswood : I Don't think it was anything to do with political correctness and more about inaccuracies. The movie is clearly intented for a young male audience so they casted some hot young girls in every role.
The end was pretty conventional for that type of movie. Finally find the safeheaven. Nothing very original.
@Fatherstak1987
Well the structure isn't a spoiler, it'a choice from the director or someone else. Yes the flash fowards give you some hints that most people will die. But some didn't (they stole the car and left). On the other hand, some situation are more interesting : who is her child and which one is not ? Why is she shooting a Survivor ?
However, there is a high probability they made that structural choice simply to prepare the audience to the several incoming deaths. If that's the case, the artistic choice is poor.
It's like happy endings, some people like them other Don't. Explanations aren't for everyone, it keeps some mystery. It's alos like in real life, you Don't Always get answer for everything. Try watching movies in the middle of it. It's very interesting to try to reconstruct the plot.
Few people are talking of paedophilia because it was not considering paedophilia is being attracted by prepubescent children, which Jasira was clearly not at this point.
