Thaisticks's Replies

Even the birds in the box somehow survived! Yes, it totally took me out of the movie, even his first remark that she was "hot." Poozer, please see "the ending explained" thread just below. The OP is pretty spot on I think. It is partly the director's venal tendencies overcoming artistic integrity. You are right on every point KD637. And the replies prove that there are a good number of those who wish for a "happy ending." Any intelligent person would realize that he was shot up beyond repair and would be in no condition to hold his breath at all as he had done earlier in the movie under water. Also he was shown in his death-dreams to be reuniting with his son, and what was that for? I was perfectly content to believe that Ovi had developed strong feelings for him, the first adult who had ever really cared for him, and that after only 8 months he would still be likely to be daydreaming of him. It's bad rep is deserved. When your discounts go away you will be paying around $130/mo (for the most inexpensive "expanded" line-up--that is, one that has popular channels like CNN, ESPN, Com Central, Nat Geo, Smithsonian, MLB and your local pro team's station, TBS, etc.) compared to $50 for YouTubeTV, or even less if you don't care about those mass appeal channels and are satisfied with the fare offered on the likes of Prime or Netflix. Or do they not gouge you so much in Canada? I was looking for something as close to the "classic" cable experience as possible (see my post above on the channels offered) at a lower price. While the "user interface" is not as smooth as with the cable cos. (channel "surfing" is not really possible), I have all the channels I usually watch, and no religious or shopping channels! Yes they have a 7-day free trial period. But on those services, can you get CNN, MSNBC, NatGeo, Smithsonian, PBS, local channels, and a host of sports channels? If not, those would not be worth it for me. It seems about one good movie comes out per year, I'm not interested in revisiting old movies or those services own productions (I've tried those when I had free trial periods), and I have never had any interest in streaming series ("binge-watching" is for the young who think they have an infinite amount of time on their hands). Also, on YouTubeTV's unlimited DVR, you can record any program and skip through commercials. Mostly they have been ridiculed, for sexual repression, racial discrimination, anti-Communist crusades leading to lock-step political thought, conservative zeitgeist leading to boring entertainment, and hideous fashions Downton Abbey (the movie, never watched the series). Got it from Redbox and gave up after about 30 min. I remember thinking the dialogue was inane. As a prominent philosopher once said, "Hell is other people." The Rush songs will only age the movie faster than it already is aging. Fallon's a derp but Colbert's last night (Weds, 18th) was hilarious: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMtFAi84ehTSYSE9XoHefig https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVM1nUmDHHc Simple and infectious, er, catchy, er, easy to sing to! Blacking out "without aliens" lol! Stones are low class I saw the movie and did not think it was promoting stripping. It was telling a story and the subject of the story can be anything. It's called freedom of speech. You seem to know a lot about strippers. Perhaps you were at one time a fan, and your former love has now turned to hate. It's about time! Can you please give attribution to that first quote?. They will of course have to face their day in court and if found guilty will definitely face more repercussions. Not familiar with any of those but they can't be more hilarious than the one in the Bean movie, I forget which one. I agree with the critics. You must have a high tolerance for trite sentimentality to like this film. One wonders why the film switches to Spain from New York about half-way in and then groan, or laugh, when the movie unfolds the unbelievable coincidence of the Spanish boy in the bus looking out the window at the woman just hit and killed by his bus eventually marrying her daughter (born at her death!) after just happening to meet her on a park bench somewhere in that vast city (and they never spent a night apart for the next 42 years)! Truly stuff made only, one thought, for Hallmark movies. And from the numbers on IMDB (a measly 12,000 ratings) it doesn't appear to be making much viewer headway.
