While this movie has its faults, it's refreshing to actually getting a fantastical space movie without aliens.

Apollo 13 and First Man are non fantastical, but great selections nevertheless.
Interstellar is vague. Are future fifth-dimensional human aliens? Hmmm... I think kinda. Cause they are arguably not human anymore.
Apollo 13 eludes to an alien encounter, if very briefly.

Too bad it had so many scientific errors. A moon base the size of the Astrodome?? A storm drain on Mars?? Climbing aboard a rocket as the countdown approaches zero, and surviving? Flying through the ring of Neptune using a piece of metal as a shield?? SERIOUSLY???
The number of errors is absolutely ADASTRAnomical!

Well, it's fantastical. It's almost like how The Lord of the Rings is set in the medieval times, but obviously NOT the real medieval times, just some look-a-like. A fantasy one.
This movie is most likely set in a look-a-like fantasy / surreal near future, not real near future. Which is unorthodox, but fine to me.
That said, some things are just flat out ridiculous like you mentioned, the silly climbing abroad a rocket via the propulsion engine was a terrible scene. That's Fast & Furious turf right there.
Fantastical is a VERY generous term to apply to this mess.

I don't get what you mean. How can calling something unrealistic a fantasy is being generous? Ad Astra is definetely a fantasy. What else would it be?

What I'm trying to say is that it was a mediocre movie filled with scientific and other absurdities.

Yeah, I still find it quite odd that they had those wacky moments. The climbing into the rocket part, like you said. And, all the stuff at the film's finale, where Pitt magically propels himself on EXACTLY the right trajectory to get to his spacecraft, and uses a piece of spacecraft to protect himself from all those pieces of ring. Then, the explosion (again!) propels his spacecraft on EXACTLY the right trajectory to get back to Earth.
It really takes you out of the movie when this stuff is going on. And, they people who are drawn to this movie are seeing it because they are likely more science minded.
Very odd. I was very disappointed by all the wackiness.
