We live in a political cesspool. It's always funny to me, when people like you engage in a little hyperbole to attempt to vent and/or laugh at it, your hyperbole actually matches the true wishes of others. Sad, more than funny, I suppose. A hilariously sad world, indeed. That is what people want, now days, though; every family in every film to look like the kids from Captain Planet, while still being biological siblings, or, I suppose, just pretend that every family in America is comprised of all adopted children. I'm not sure of the actual logic behind it, if there is any. I never said you owed me anything. I just wanted to see if you've ever actually enjoyed an actor's work and/or an actor, or if life's other functions prevented you from doing so. That's all. Despite your question being rhetorical, I'd still like to let you know the answer. Yes, I am happier than I was before. Just that one little answer shows me that there's more to you than just politics, and that makes me happy. And, I appreciate your answering, instead of ignoring, because, like you said, you don't owe me anything. That said, why should I "go away" when we're making such progress? Our little exchange here has already been more enjoyable and more productive than the entire plot of Marriage Story. I wonder if he could get DiCaprio to do it, since it's only a mini-series. If you don't want me to ever respond to you, why not go ahead and put me on "ignore"? If I'm not allowed to reply to you, and I'm such a "moron", what's the point? And, still, to the overall unanswered point - can you name one performance of the year that you enjoyed? Hell, I'll give even more leeway - can you name one actor, ever, that you have liked? Ok, let's see, we have - The truth: "Yes, I do think most of the people in Hollyweird are evil leftists, and many of them are pedophiles. What does that have to do with enjoying the films?? I enjoy Hollyweird's films, but detest most of the people out there." Backpedaling bullshit when you've been called out: "And when I said "who gives a damn", that was a joke, like the old Bill Murray SNL routine! I even attached a video to make that clear. What part of that did you not understand? "Hello, McFly??" Yep, typical MC discourse. Thanks for clearing it up. You weren't joking. You were doing your good boy partisan work by being a smart ass, and you know it. Still ignoring: "Any snubs that you want added, I'll add into this OP." If you didn't enjoy any of the nominated performances, I totally understand, but if you genuinely didn't enjoy ONE SINGLE PERFORMANCE in the ENTIRE YEAR, again, I must ask - why even continue to watch films?" Still, not one performance, all year? And, this is my favorite part - In your own words: "Yes, I do think most of the people in Hollyweird are evil leftists..." & "I enjoy Hollyweird's films, but detest most of the people out there." You make these statements, after taking the time to leave your opinion on best picture but none of the others, but you were joking? Haha, now that's a joke. Good one. You did good though. For attacking the evil, dirty liberal actors, you get your Trump Points for the day. Good luck cashing them in, though. https://youtu.be/Gs8Pkst6u2k?t=143 That's either a really good or really bad idea lol, depending on what you would hope to get out of it. Totally understand that. I find that with Korean and Spanish films, especially, I have to back it up to catch some of the visuals that I missed due to reading the text. Then again, I almost always do this with English films, as well, just to make sure I'm really grasping everything, so I guess that's why it's never really been an issue with me. I'm sure, to most people, it would be very annoying to watch a film at my house lol. Thankfully, the Mrs. doesn't seem to mind, and neither does the dog - my typical viewing party. That's a great point. I believe you're right about that being around the time that the onslaught began. Superhero movie fatigue was probably the case for both of us. That's a shame. You just don't like subtitles or...? On a related note, I did read that there are already plans on doing a HBO series based on it, so maybe you could enjoy that. lol What are the odds that we both took a superhero hiatus after the same movie that we, ironically, both enjoyed? What makes you say that about Parasite? If it's the title, it's entirely metaphorical. It's not actually about parasites haha. Joker was the first superhero/comic book type of movie that I've seen since Tobey Maguire's Spiderman, as the genre just really isn't my kind of thing, normally, but with my admiration for Joaquin's skills and interest in Phillips doing a (mostly) non-comedy, I couldn't resist, and I'm glad that I didn't. So far, of the ones that I've seen, it would have to be my #2, behind Parasite. Oddly, the two films have strong similarities in certain themes. I should have watched some of them sooner. Now I'm trying to cram them all in before the actual results. Though, to be honest, I think I'm more interested in what MC thinks more than the Oscars. I was hoping to get more outside-the-box snub picks that might otherwise go unnoticed. Well, I was fairly certain that I had seen you participate in the "everyone in 'Hollyweird' is an evil, leftist pedophile" line of talk, and assumed that was why you took on the attitude of "nobody gives a damn". I would say that many of my views don't align with the views of many top actors, but I don't let that affect my opinion on their work. Now, if I'm completely wrong in this assumption, then I totally, fully, wholeheartedly apologize, but something tells me I'm not, seeing as I said, "Any snubs that you want added, I'll add into this OP." If you didn't enjoy any of the nominated performances, I totally understand, but if you genuinely didn't enjoy ONE SINGLE PERFORMANCE in the ENTIRE YEAR, again, I must ask - why even continue to watch films? Nailed it. Right. The next big thing: Movies without actors. I can see it now. If politics have clouded your judgment to the point where you can no longer appreciate the art of the performance, why even continue to watch films? I really want to see 1917. I've probably been looking forward to it the most, and I'm typically not a huge fan of war films. Very good. Thanks for posting this one. Yeah, I normally try to forgive little things like that, but this one, in particular, really did take me out of the moment. Probably for the best. It's a shame. It used to be really good. I will; she always considered you a friend. Like many things - politics killed it. It's some of the worst radical liberal diarrhea porn of all time. The only characters that I still like and care about are Lip, Kermit, and Tommy. I'm going to finish it out, but more out of an OCD-ish thing that I have with shows, rather than continuing for the show's quality, which has took one of the biggest dives ever, since the shows beginning.
