I'm about 99% sure Daenerys knew she wouldnt die in that funeral pyre because she discovered her immunity a while back. It was all about showmanship and theatrics for the Dothraki to fully embrace her as their God-queen or whatever.
This is what you get when the showrunners know they dont have much material to begin with a.k.a the books and trying to stretch it as far as they can.
All the cool shit is being saved for season 3 and 4 but this season all we get is Daemon doing fuck all for 4 episodes straight and barely any battles scenes, sprinkling just enough dragon scenes to keep the viewership high.
