I believe in the ending credits, there was a claim that the movie was based on a book. If so, is anyone familiar with the book?
Does the movie follow the plot of the book. Does the book have the same loose ends, etc?
Well...............I saw it and I own it as well. I just got done watching it last night. Thats actually why I am here looking to see what people are saying. I totally agree that this was second only to jungle book. I was blown away at how great it turned out. That is why I was thrilled when I heard of Disney doing the Pete's Dragon remake. i was thrilled. To me, it didn't disappoint. It is beyond amazing what they can do with CGI today to make it look real.
The emotional elements were great. Of course its a fantasy and its Magic in its ideas, but we accept that as a part of the story that is brought to life. I loved the casting of Pete. I found him perfect for the part and he draws our emotional heartstrings which is what is intended.
it really IS too bad that family film has taken such a Back seat. In MY world, movies like this should become cult classics for future generations.
I haven't checked in here for several weeks but I see this reply and it indeed deserves a response.
I feel the show WAS showing us the future. The future you pointed out here is a bit ironic but science fiction has been pretty accurate at times in showing us future events.
We can go back to early films about space travel. Before any space exploration began. it is surprising how some of the movies showed us space ships which looked very similar to those which ended up venturing into space.
AI spells trouble. Any technology that can be used for good can also be used for bad.
People who want to stay ignorant of the facts will fall victim sooner or later.
Is there a need to spy on the American people? Apparently there is as well as there seems to be a need to silence those who we disagree with.
These are very troubling times with very troubling consequences.
Its a great question. Why do some riots seem to co unpunished and others have deadly consequences. Why are large sums of money donated to protect and bail out those who are guilty of destruction, injury and even death? Why do riots take place in arias where no incidents occur (until the protests and riots)
Our countries constitution is being abused and turned inside out to persecute innocent people and protect guilty ones. Our constitution could not see or predict the type of future we now are living in. THIS is a part of the problem.
I DO hope the show will be released on DVD where it can be seen in its entirety and uninterrupted. We need to heed the warning
I never understood the term "grade school". Don't you get grades in ALL schools?
So how does the movie compare to the book or didn't you see it?
An Update
Tonight (Tuesday) I attempted to watch the last 2 episodes.
Tee first (episode 8 i was totally lost. With all of the gaps and postponements, there was no way I could connect with the plot, the characters or anything else. I did better with the second one (episode 9). It followed #8 so I had some continuity.
It is no wonder the ratings have tanked. Nobody can connect with the series
It was a GREAT series. I wish I could see the ENTIRE series without the gaps and interruptions.
Maybe they will see fit to release it on DVD.
Even those of us who shun intrusive technology are being FORCED into it.
"Smart Meters" are being forcibly installed on our homes. Supposedly it not legal to do that but it hasnt stopped them.
Smart meters have the capability of interfacing with smart devices in our home. Things such as smart tv, smart thermostats nad just about anything with smart in their name. It may also interface with things that dont have smart in their name.
Hve you ever considered why EVERY electrical device in our homes now has a microchip in it when such a device has always been able to run without one. A smart meter can track many of these devices and in some case interface with them.
The power companies promise that they wont do it but can we trust a company who forced us to have the meter in the first place?
The power company can shut off my power remotely. I have had gross billing errors which couod easily trigger a shutoff, even though my bill is paid.
This stuff is scary. It would be easy to see how a rogue AI could disable our power at the meter.
I already have a smart water meter on the house. It cant shut off my wate remotely but it is strangely invasive. I monitors my water usage in REAL TIME.
That means that it pretty much can figure out when I flush a toilet, when I wash clothes, when I take a shower etc. Why would a water utility need such precision as this. We are billed by MONTHLY usage, not minute by minute. It can pretty much tell when someone is home and what they are doing.
This stuff is just the tip of the iceberg.
Please read my post marked "commentary" as to how fox has essentially censured this show and has not given us the show in its entirety.
Why would a network do such a thing.
That is a question that needs to be answered.

I AM a little confused about the whole thing of Hillary being brought up in the discussion of THIS movie. She is really not related to THIS movie. She is the subject of a different movie on which I have different views and opinions.

He bases his movies on a solid foundation of FACT. The left bases their foundation on an "illusion" of fact. No left wing group will debate him. He has never lost a debate with those who have tried. So they just cast him aside and disregard him is discredit him on a basis of nothing.
Seems rather obvious to me.

I have seen it and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I actually saw it a second time.
I know my taste in horror movies doesn't always go along with mainstream opinion.
MY only criteria when seeing a movie is the following.
DO I LIKE IT.
I leave it for others to decide their own likes.
If I review something negatively, it is usually to warn people about movies that are pretty much a sham.
The recent Antebellum comes to mind.
Maybe they should have been more honest in the marketing as to what type of movie this actually is.
