This is a good question. I think Epstein is a very extreme case but the root of OTHER RICH MEN exploiting young trailer trash is probably power and control. Bill Gates messed around with his staff, so that's not much of a mystery. Conversely, before Bill Gates got married women would wear badges on their clothes "marry me Bill Gates!", I find that somewhat disturbing and predatory. Money makes people do all sorts of nastiness. I'm glad I don't have tons of it God knows what I would do. Pete is what is called "the tragedy of a man-child". He bulldozed his way through life never truly caring about anybody but himself. I haven't read the Dowd report in it's entirely, but I've read excerpts and it's sobering. Pete was anything but classy. He was an alpha male dumb jock who thought the rules didn't apply to him. I think he bet on baseball because he needed the money. Not only did he need the money he probably got a huge adrenaline rush of breaking baseball's ultimate rule. In the end, Pete was just trash. He lived near the strip in Vegas. I lived in Vegas for 8 years I saw him once in a Casino store signing autographs. I wouldn't go near him..it was sad and pathetic. Pete loved to talk about himself and that's what signing autographs gave him the chance to talk about himself over and over. But that's what arrogant dumb jocks do. They lie, cheat, steal and only tell the truth when they need the money. I agree I cannot stand Pete Davidson. I even liked Leslie Jones 10x more than Pete Davidson. He's not funny, has ZERO timing. Interesting, Clarke wrapped up the ending so quickly..then again it was a short story I don't think he really put as much effort into it as he would with a novel. I think he even used the phrase "flooded the earth with all its peoples" or something like that. It just seems odd but then again I imagine writing sci-fi must be incredibly tedious and difficult. It's still popular and still making a ton of money but yeah, in this day in age it's impossible to watch because America is so divided. I was a HUGE fan for decades but haven't watched in years. As you mentioned, Bowman became the Star Child..assigned to keep humanity from destroying itself. Nobody ever saw him in either the book or movie, I always assumed he was a God like figure, impossible to see. As far as worldwide panic, I guess people would have to resort to conventional weapons if they wanted to keep on fighting. Not a big deal compared to orbiting nuclear weapons. I think they're both a "monster loose inside the house" movie..but still, they are both outstanding movies made by top notch directors. Since it's damn near impossible to make a halfway decent sequel I'm going to call this a tie. Alien and Aliens rate a 9/10. Thanks for your input Mr. Miller. that's why Facebook and all social media is a toxic mess. I dare you to start saying positive nice things. I dare you! Even Adam Savage didn't know they used a British narrator. The only way I found out is I was in Qatar and MythBusters, with the British narrator, was on TV 5 days a week. I do remember that Monster Garage had a very good narrator as well: Brett Wagner. Occasionally they would show Brett in his little studio. They did revisit many of their myths, due to viewer letters/observations.. and the results usually came out to be the same. I don't know anybody that leans heavily on the show to be the absolute be all end all. MythBusters was a very well produced, written, and executed TV show. It was the height of cable TV entertainment. When the show aired in Europe they used a British narrator Well, I will concede American's are DRASTICALLY more dumbed down then ever before. But I think everything really started to go downhill around 1993. 1970's - Slight decline 1980's - Slight decline 1990-1992 - Slight decline 1993 to present - an unprecedented STEEP STEEP decline. Junk food and media very high up there as primary cause. Obesity rate in 1992 was around 10%, now upwards to 40%-50% or even higher. IQ's have plummeted AT LEAST 10 points. A complete and utter catastrophe that will the U.S. will NEVER recover from. I can accept Beyond Thunderdome at #5. Fury Road at #1 is insane. Furiosa at #2 is insane. Mad Max 2 at #3 is flat out impossible. Mad Max at #4 is beyond pathetic. "Deadpool" "Seven rows of Death!" you're right about Humungus not knowing Max has done a 180 with the tanker. From what I remember the score blasted heavy music when the tanker is in the process of turning. Basically telling the audience "pay attention, this is important!" MJ is pretty much a has been. He was huge from 83 until, I'd say, 1995 TOPS. After that he was completely forgotten in the U.S. except for his trial. We had Elvis, The Beatles, MJ, and now Taylor Swift. Heck, nobody really cares about The Beatles anymore and they were the best ever!
