First $1b biopic?
MJ biopic by Fuqau?
I can see this making like 600m domestic (Boh Rhap made about 200m) and more overseas (like BohRhap 700m) = 1.3b ww (BH did 900m)

It would surprise me if it was that big.
shareIt might be huge overseas. One doesn't know about here in the USA.
Jackson's star had faded massively after the second child abuse scandal he went through.
ANd his comeback tour, as I remember, would have been confined to Europe.
One supposes he was still huge across the pond.
So, maybe this film will do well. It's a 50/50. I make it that high only because of the Director.
I think about aging. A lot of the people who were interested in him are now super old or dead, and gen Z / Millenials really don't care about him like that. So I don't know. I guess it all depends on marketing.
shareInteresting. Well, he certainly was of minimal importance to my generation (GENX) by the time he passed.
If GENZ didn't latch onto him - well, I guess they'll have to hope Baby Boomers tune in.
I wouldn't count Fuqua out though. He's a good director. He may be able to turn Jackson's story into a solid movie.
We'll see......
Would be sad to see a movie about an accused paedophile do so well.
shareMaybe if every 50-60+ year old woman in the world who's still a Jackson fan goes to see it 20+ times. I can't think of anyone else who'd be that excited over this.
shareThis is what I am thinking about. Do young people have an interest in him? I really don't know but his streaming numbers are not high so I would think not?
shareMJ is pretty much a has been. He was huge from 83 until, I'd say, 1995 TOPS. After that he was completely forgotten in the U.S. except for his trial.
We had Elvis, The Beatles, MJ, and now Taylor Swift.
Heck, nobody really cares about The Beatles anymore and they were the best ever!
Yeah - ebhaynz is on point.
It was actually "Off the Wall" that brought Jackson to big time interest as a solo artist. Which makes sense because it's a terrific record.
Then came "Thriller" - which put him through the roof. His next album "Bad" kept him on top. In 1991 he came out with "Dangerous". "Dangerous was huge, but you could sense MJ's time was starting to pass.
Then, the messes began for him. By the time 95 rolled around, he was still huge, but, on his way down.
I believe he released another record in 2001. I can tell you no one from my generation cared.
Yeah, I'm with you on The Beatles, second fave group of all time behind Led Zeppelin.
The Beatles still sound great. Most of Jackson's stuff sounds absurd today, IMO.
Possibly if it gets good word of mouth.
