I thought she was in the present day when she was at the Louvre. Wasn't she looking at an original WWI photographic print sent to her by Bruce Wayne? Diana killed a lot of regular German soldiers who weren't nearly as evil as Dr. Maru who experimented with cruelly gasing people. Although Maru was depicted as a truly evil character she really didn't seem to be as fully used as she could have been. She was basically the sidekick of Ludendorff who was himself secondary to Ares. I thought I saw a ship in the distance when the boats were landing. My favorite part of the film wasn't any action scene. It was when Trevor was telling her that darkness was within everybody. There were a few aspects of the story I liked but I didn't think it was a particularly great film. But I'm not in general a fan of movies with extreme action scenes. He basically makes the same sacrifice as Batman does at the end of The Dark Knight Rises in somewhat analogous circumstances. It is assumed he dies because of the magnitude of the aerial hydrogen explosion seen from the ground and the fact that modern day Diana still believes he died. I guess it is possible that something else happened we don't know.
