I have to agree with TheOtherFella. This film was made to make you feel uncomfortable and to "think twice" of your initial reaction. Actually, all of Kubrick's films make me feel uncomfortable!

I feel the same way. I was under the impression that it was a biographical type of movie too. I didn't care for the fantasy sequences. I too love Elton John's music but didn't care for the "musical" style of Rocketman.

Call it "Season of the Witch" Find a small town, get Dean Cundey as cinematographer to capture the awesome atmosphere of the original. Have Carpenter himself involved as producer and soundtrack. It could be awesome with today's reliance on technology!
