I agree. The movie had definite flaws here and there but it was never ever boring for me. Tommy is doing a way better job than Jared Leto. It only dropped 11%? Not bad! Yeah, true. I was probably too hopeful that Joker would be Number 1 but it's still impressive it's performing so well. I think so too. It's having another good weekend, and overtime I can see it still performing well. Zombieland 2 was fantastic. Not surprised about Maleficient though. Disney knows this game way too well :/ ETA: I guess I misunderstood, Maleficent 2 is actually underperforming, which doesn't surprise me. But I'm glad Joker is having another awesome weekend. That would be pretty cool if it smashes the box office for a 3rd week and comes in Number 1. Zombieland 2 does seem to be doing pretty good though so I guess we'll see but I would love to see this movie hit a billion just domestically. I think it's more of a response to them finding the actor attractive. I gotta say though, I thought Joaquin looked terrible here. Way too thin. I didn't get why he needed to lose weight for this role. How do you think this movie will do in the third week? Ngl, I'm happy this movie is giving Disney some much needed competition, they've been dominating the box office too much lately. Since what seems to be opening is a ton of sequels, it might come third (or second, who knows). It's funny because I remember my family taping some Michael Jackson stuff off of MTV (or VH1) back in the day too. When his Smooth Criminal video debuted, my Dad recorded it, and he also recorded this special where they talked about the allegations against him back then (including that taped statement from Neverland Ranch that aired on MTV). I remember also recording Nickelodeon's 20th anniversary block (they showed a bunch of old shows/episodes, like the pilot for a show that had AJ McLean from Backstreet Boys called Hi Honey I'm Home). It's a shame that recorders are now a thing of the past, with on demand there's an assumption things are always available but that's not the case sometimes. Yeah same here, I agree. The whole "oh but we had anal sex!" would have been an unnecessary detail that cheapened the movie. (Which might be a weird thing to say, but if she was dismissed as delusional, the specifics wouldn't matter). Lol this is so weirdly specific. But the fact the writers insist she was admitted to be silenced makes me think they didn't want to go with this alternate version. What tape did you guys get? The format wars were very interesting. Its quite fascinating to me how VHS won out for being more affordable to reproduce, when it was still super expensive. Lol...How is anything in this movie "of course"? The entirety of the movie's plot utilizes the "unreliable narrator" trope as a device. My understanding (and the understanding of the person next to me) was that Penny was insisting she was at first. Of course, you could chock it up to her being "delusional". I was rooting for this show, because 1970s Times Square is my favorite subject. The first season was okay but by the second season, I felt it starting to wane a bit. There was potential there but they didn't really explore it. Yup, in the Highbridge section. I think Joaquin's performance leaves more of an impression than Leo's performance in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The main thing Leo nailed down was the accent, but I actually felt like the padded movie-docu segments weighed down his performance. Once Upon a Time was Quentin's weakest movie. Brad Pitt's performance left a bigger impression on me with that film. I can understand though why you might feel like the movie is weak. There was a part of me that felt like lots of what I liked about the movie, I've seen done in other movies before, I'm not sure if I would say better but perhaps more fleshed out. Overall though, it's definitely the best movie in theaters right now. Tapes back then were so expensive, like around 80 bucks, they would practically cost you a paycheck. If you buy old tapes off of Ebay, you might sometimes come across tapes with old price stickers on the packaging that said they were, retail price, around 75/79.00 bucks a piece. Does he say this or does she say it? That's a fair point. I don't think Thomas liked to get his hands dirty. Blue blood types tend to have security around them. It's more plausible that he had a security guard that beat on Arthur than him personally hitting Arthur himself.
