It's interesting how you interpret my assumption as a wide leap considering what we see of Neeson's character throughout the segment.
He rushes the artist when he's eating. He doesn't have him near the fire at night. He doesn't even engage in conversation with him. He is morally bankrupt. He doesn't view the artist as a person, he views him as a tool for his needs. The artist is a means for money, a means for sexual gratification and, in the end, an object to be used to determine how deep the water is. As we see a blatant disregard for the artist throughout the segment, it really isn't a wide leap to assume he wouldn't use him as a sexual object.
The segment was truly just showcasing how unfortunate the artist's life was.
I suppose that can be one interpretation. There is no room for ethics in capitalism, as the driving force is profit, which seldom aligns with being virtuous.
If one believes in karma, what did the artist do in his former life to deserve his current one? Is there a reason for everything?
I think the subtext, after he looked at him, was that his "once", was with Liam Nielson.

I'm sorry, I should have been a little more clear. I meant films set in December, where you truly feel that Christmas spirit. Yes, A Christmas Story has those elements, although it's aged and doesn't have the visual crispness of EWS.

I believe an older vampire can kill a younger one, but it is considered a cardinal sin in their world. Then again, how would the punishment be meted out?
That would make sense. I only thought it was possible because of their attempt to kill Lestat.

This is an interesting point. Before, he could not afford to be picky with his roles; now that he's established and can selectively pick box office hits, there is no incentive for him to be cast in a serious film like Magnolia.
It could also be that he just doesn't enjoy those types of films. Maybe action is more his flair. Then again, even DeNiro had Heat in 1995 before his inevitable fall, and he was 51-52 at the time.
Times are certainly different.
