Greg Nicotero helped make the wights for the Hardhome episode.
Eugene found a machine shop to make bullets and Rick has the gunpowder recipe. As long as the saviors are trapped inside the sanctuary, Rick's group can use it.
They used the walker herd to start a siege on the sanctuary and shot out the glass windows so the zombie noise would stress out the people inside.
It looks like they are layering different timelines over each other, and it is all about Rick (even though they keep telling him it's not). There is the scene of Rick at the beginning of the pilot, reenacted by Carl with the gas can, later in that scene we see Rick shoot at the guy and Carl gets mad at him. This is the Rick who didn't trust strangers when he rolled into Alexandria. The hospital Rick from the first episode that changes to the old man "mercy" Rick we haven't seen on TV yet (this version of Rick is in the comics). There's a version of Rick giving the speech that is similar to when they were going to kill everyone at the satellite dish outpost, and when they start moving the vehicles, it is like the plan they had at the prison to lure the Gov's people inside. The broken Rick from the beginning of season 7 with red around his eyes. The no mercy Rick who cut the zombie free to eat that guy. And the Rick who was gonna kill Negan.
They also call back to different moments in the show, like the top of the RV. Prior to that there was an explosion somewhere else when one of the saviors threw a grenade, the smoke with the zombie sounds was like when Negan pushed Rick out of the RV. There's a ton of other stuff, they jumped around in time to make it easier to work in all the callbacks/easter eggs.
Plotwise, I think there's a lot of stuff that happened from the season 7 finale to the scene with Rick, Ezekiel, Maggie on the truck giving the speeches and the next few episodes will be about that.
Probably closer to The Revenant than Cast Away because the main character already had some basic survival skills.
I like it as a 7/10. There was enough material from Yossi's memoir to add at least an extra 30 minutes, but it showed enough to tell the story.
Daniel is cursed because of his past, and for going back to his old ways to get control of the dam. He believes his worst fear has come true, that his daughter sees him as an evil person. She seemed like she would be willing to forgive him, but in Daniel's mind she died hating him. That's why he said, "this is the price"
That bucket was important to her because she found it on her own. But what the other girl was trying to break to her is if she wants to go it alone, this will happen again and next time she will eventually have to kill someone.
I liked the plastic ball scene. And when Troy realizes he's not the craziest MF in the group.
She already found herself, but she deferred to her mother because it made sense to keep the family together and find somewhere safe, etc. She left because she is honoring her promise to the dying woman not to let fear rule her decisions. And after this episode, she realizes holing up with her family is probably the worst thing to do. If they were down in the pantry she would have had to had to kill them too.
She wants to be more like Strand. He gets around and knows where to find things, and he already saved their asses multiple times because of it. Alicia will never travel in style like him though.
The people on the ranch weren't going to last much longer anyway. The Clark family just hastened the inevitable.
The car was the one leaving JD's house after he got killed. They tracked the car to that creepy guy Troy (who also had died) and some traffic cam photos of the other guy they found at the "travel agency".
I think he was not talking about the wallpaper because he didn't want to lead her. Just let her do her thing and see how she reacts.
She punched him the same way when she realized her sister was dead, right after her ribs cracked. When the same song played in episode 1 and she saw him on the beach, she was reliving that moment, same as she did with the detective. For purposes of the story, it was the only way the detective knew for sure she suffered trauma, and he would have to dig deeper if he wanted to know the truth.
I had some problems with the ending, because none of that stuff would happen in real life- he would never be able to just take her out of jail to go riding around and wandering through peoples' houses. Especially while they were in there. Assuming she was allowed to walk through the doctor's house, they would not have him anywhere near her. And the case was already adjudicated, it would take years if they were ever to get a hearing for reduced sentence. They would also need the prosecutor to agree, and I doubt that would happen without at least charging the doctor.
It could be this, or another possibility is someone gave her false memories. Either way, the relationship with JD and his ex doesn't add up, nor does the relationship with her parents, how she was able to get married, have a kid and stay somewhat in the same area without her husband being suspicious of her past.
She is also executive producer on this show and has gotten very picky about the projects she wants to work on. There was an interview maybe 5 years ago where she says she tries not to get typecast as the hot girl in a romantic comedy or summer flick like the one she did with Freddie Prinze, Jr.
Donal Logue would be better for this character.
I think she knew how she wanted that night to end. The things she was saying to Cora when she first found her and Frankie in that house. Cora just wanted to get her back home, because she knew there was nothing nice waiting for her if their parents found out. Dude was right about Phoebe, she was like a vampire, she played on Cora's guilt to control her. But in this episode she was finally telling Cora to let her go.
The style is like a narcocorrido (songs that tell stories about drug trafficking), I guess adding the images could make it one. If you watch Breaking Bad, one of the episodes starts with a music video in Spanish, that is a narcocorrido about Heisenberg. A real narcocorrido has to tell a true story, that's how the singers earn respect and fame. If they're caught making one up, they lose their reputation.
Does the faith of the 7 allow for divorce? Annulment is a way around that.
There will be a 4th season. Looks like it will be about the Mexican cartels.
