You can like or not like the scene but I do think the Coens have made it clear that it was meant to wake up Marge from her Midwestern naivety and blind trust and made her suspicious of Jerry. I watched this several times and, though I liked the scene, I always wondered what the point was. A similar scene is the one where the officer talks with the older man about what he heard while tending bar. It barely moves the story along but I find it hilarious - "Well, that don't sound like too good a deal for him then." I’m glad I was wrong, at least in your case. It was fun to look at, especially the part at The Troubadour. The first album I ever owned was his first Greatest Hits and I never owned another one but he’s a part of the soundtrack of my life, as they say. This is a standard musician biopic done in an interesting way. If you love Elton see it in the theatre, if you like him watch it on OnDemand or Netflix or HBO, if you dislike Elton, for Lord’s sake, stay away. Abortion is a terrible option but sometimes the least terrible option. People, even people who have no desire for a child, are going to have sex so banking on abstinence is folly. The answer to this whole conundrum is USE BIRTH CONTROL! If people would slow down and take a minute to think and take simple precautions then 99% of the non-rape, non life threatening scenarios would be eliminated. I’ve helped raise three responsible, productive, tax-paying children to adulthood, it is a massive commitment and should only be undertaken by people that are 100% committed to it from the getgo. Oh yeah, this is the one for sure if you use our household as a gauge. Most times my wife and I kid with each other one of us will say “Are you giving me the business?” Stupid? Yes Funny? Mostly I guess everyone experiences a movie differently. I saw it in the theater with my family and another family. I guess it was 2004. We all left saying it was horrible, worst movie ever, etc. Then it came on cable and every time I tried it it got funnier and funnier. It is silly but it’s so earnest. I’m proud to admit I really like it. It's over the top but I'm usually cracking up at every episode. They're all good but the "twins" are awesome.
