Ironically, that's why so much was changed, in the hopes we wouldn't notice the shortcuts. King is one of my favorite authors and Salem's Lot is one of my favorites of his books, I've read it probably 4 or 5 times. But I think the only way to enjoy this movie is to have low expectations and not be a purist in terms of adaptation. Idk, I guess it depends on what vibe you're feeling that night. The 1979 version has its classic charms. Haven't seen it in a long time though. So... You've watched it a mere two times, and the second time made you wildly change your opinion. And, to boot, in the name of the thread, you feel the need to insult people who don't agree with you after your second go-round? My, you think a lot of yourself and critiquing and intelligence, don't you? And I don't get why a movie has to be a "worst" or "best" to begin with, it can be middling Haha yes. In all honesty I've seen it described that way elsewhere, and it stuck with me That was almost on subject, thanks, bronze medal for you I feel like tonight's premiere even joked about the series slowly winding down. But it's one of those where honestly what else could be iconic enough to get its time slot? But I think if/when it ends, they'll want to end it on a season of note, and so 40 is the next likely opportunity I want to clarify, because it can be hard to convey on the internet, but do you mean this as an alternate theory, or one that builds on to mine? I can see it going either way. Also, either way, I find it intriguing Also, he's not superhuman, he would've had to come up for breath and headed to shore very shortly after. It's quite possible he overheard them arguing before they got back in the car, and I think everyone's name is used there. Who knows, maybe. Personally I think otherwise. No real evidence, just seems to me like they would've had that aspect decided early on. They just kept them seeming like separate entities to keep that mystery going longer. That's interesting, I never knew that about the interview, and clears it up. I've always noticed that, I just have the standard US dvd for it. But since it never appeared in subtitles, I always wondered if it was something I imagined I was hearing, kind of like how in Star Wars you can supposedly hear Mark Hamill shout "Carrie!" but in reality it was just a garbled noise. I don't think the color is important, but the reason is to show uniformity, that they are of a hive mind No, I watched all but the last minute and still decided to post. Yeah what happens to them is clear, how/why, not so much, at least imho, hence the post Funny you word it that way. I'm more interested in the walkers because they're the less likely scenario, and we already see how awful humans are every day Roz hasn't appeared yet, but last night I was thinking about this and I still feel this way. Especially when you take into account how the landscape has changed. During the original show, each season had 20+ episodes and was generally safely picked up for next season a month before the season finale. Now, there's a much shorter run to impress, so news of a renewal is very likely to come after the season wraps. Putting it in the place of wanting an ambiguous ending because it has to act like it's on the bubble. Because even though this is enjoyable, I don't foresee it lasting 11 seasons regardless. I give it roughly 5. Yeah, "Should've left well enough alone" and "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" are strong themes here. I know we're supposed to love Tommy, because the twice-recast character, who is inconsistent throughout, is one of the few recurring protagonists in this series. But every time he's on screen I just think about how it's his fault. Fair but also, you're the dad, why did you keep it hidden, why was your son being raised here instead of with you? He's not exactly father of the year so who is he to judge those other fairly innocent kids? I know, the answer is he's crazy ^ Correct There'll hopefully be some good things out of it. Will be interesting to see whatever characters we do get to see. Especially it sounds like Rachel will be back too, so it will be nice to at least get closure/an update on her. However, Chad Michael Murray has already stated he won't be involved. So that's a bummer, because they'll likely either have him and Peyton divorced or he's dead. My guess is it's dead. From his heart issues. Because that will allow for it to be part of Peyton's story, another tragedy for Peyton, and then we'll get to see her heal and date again. Having him be away because they're divorced would ruin the star-crossed tragic lovers aspect of their story. Sure if he's alive he can come back and they can get together if they can ever get CMM on board. But him dying has more dramatic heft and finality, without also ruining their relationship. Personally I'd be happy if they had him just be an unseen character, and make a joke out of him always being in his study, hard at work on his next novel. But of course that would disallow them from having Peyton explore dating again. I also wonder what will be the deal with Julian. But of course that's not as big of an issue because Julian wasn't as iconic, integral, or long-running as Lucas. I like Julian fine, just saying. What bugs me most is the predictability of the angle of it being about them being moms and having their kids be dramatic teens now. As for Mark Schwahn, I understand your point from the creative POV, but it sounds like he did quite a bit more than raise his voice, and a lot of women said so. I believe the women, and that being the case, no, he shouldn't be back. But I do feel like this sequel series is also part of their whole thing about reclaiming the show and the experience. You're giving a lot of power to a TV SHOW that ran for six seasons and ended almost a decade ago Continuity was always screwy in the X-Men movies. Just happens to many franchises after a while. Halloween, Texas Chain Saw. It's not meant to be scrutinized that closely and seriously. That's why they give themselves the out of multiple timelines. Yeah I know that's lame, but how it is. Roll with it and enjoy.
