No, I understand he was playing a character. I just never like any of the characters he plays. You are a bigger classic movie fan than I am, then!! I had never seen one of his films, only knew the name because he was the husband that teenage Loretta Young eloped with. This is my first time seeing a movie of his; not that impressed with him. Yes, I understand times have changed, and thus the title of my post. But I don't think it would be "helicopter" parenting to choose to not leave your preteen daughter at home alone with a strange man she's never met before. I think it would be responsible parenting. Wow, snarky. I didn't say I felt unsafe. But I wasn't enjoying the movie, so I thought about not finishing it. It's not a good film, In My Opinion. Thought that's what we were here to discuss on this board. It's worth a watch if you're a Marion Davies fan. I've been on a kick of seeing her movies lately. Yes, unless you are a big Ann Sheridan fan and just want to see all her filmography. I agree with you about the hairstyle. I felt like Lana looked very matronly in this movie and I was wondering how old she was IRL. I was shocked to see she was only 25 when this movie was made! Maybe because she was teamed with the much older Tracy, it made her seem older too. But I felt like her hair and clothing made her look older, rather than highlighting the May/December aspect of their relationship. It was a higher class way for her to be "paid" for her services. She asks for money to tip the restroom attendant but he gives her much more than she needs for that, he's really giving her money like you'd leave on the nightstand when the action is over. Can't believe mine hasn't been mentioned. Doris when she walks into rock's apartment. "Why redecorate? It's so functional for your purposes!" View all replies >
