Whoever thought to cast Dan Duryea in bad guy roles had a stroke of genius. Because he doesn't have the appearance of your general tough guy in the classic movie era. He's blonde, skinny, and has a kind of whiny voice. But he excelled at these characters! Every time I see him I think how good he is at playing slimeballs.
