Joan is always fun to watch
From the first few scenes, I saw similarities to "The Prince and the Showgirl" and thought it must be a remake of this earlier film. But after Joan shows up at the king's house, the plot is totally different so I guess it's not.
I enjoyed getting to see Joan shine as the sole leading lady, as up to this point she had to share the screen in most of her movies, usually with Glenda Farrell, Ruby Keeler, or Claire Dodd. Nice to see her get her chance to carry the movie. She's a delight.
