You have it backwards! The events in the Star Wars galaxy happened a long time ago. So if anything, Earth cultures are stealing from Star Wars.

I think the Rangers likely figure it out and catch him. Especially with the high profile of the shootout and one senior Ranger on Toby's trail. However, Toby probably would be willing to get caught if it meant saving the ranch and doing good by his family. At the end the ranch is already saved. The worst case scenario for Toby's family is they have to repay the bank for the stolen money witch they could easily do.
