We are never going to stop remakes. I wish that remakes would be better versions of not so great movies with great potential, but they probably won't bring in the cash. Some remakes have been great movies and some would argue better than the originals. The Thing (1982) is one of my favourites. I also love My Fair Lady (1964) which is a movie version of the 1956 stage musical, which is was an adaptation of the 1938 British film Pygmalion, which adapted the 1913 stage version. So remakes are certainly not new.
I agree with you when it comes to book adaptations, I think it's a totally different ball game. When a film isn't the original source material there will always be room for other visions. Pride and Prejudice is a great example of this. I think many consider the 1995 mini series to be their favourite, but each version has their pros and cons. We all know the issues King had with Kubrick's Shining. Regardless of what you think of the mini series, you can't deny that King had the right to try to make an adaptation of his story.
I don't think anyone who reads a book before watching the movie version will ever be truly satisfied with the movie, as the vision is already created. Favourite parts can be left out of the movie, characters may not be what we pictured (for me, Clark Gable is a horrible Rhett Butler), settings can be different, etc. I had issues with the 1990 mini series too. For the most part, I enjoyed it, but there were things that if I had control, I might have changed. I thought that the second part of the 1990 fell short and was not as scary as it could have been. But it was TV. I have hope that this version will be scarier.
I think it depends on what scares you. A lot of horror movies rely on the jump scares which don't scare me at all. There are also a lot of movies that give too much motive or back story to make it scary for me. I prefer movies that go for the creep scare, not the gore or jump. Those are hard to find. :)
I think it already is one of "those" shows. It should have ended a few seasons ago. I really don't know why I'm still watching it other than my roommate does. Reid's current story line has me ready to toss in the towel. I really have grown to hate all the longer personal story arcs.

It's a shame the US doesn't use the non confidence votes like other countries. Failure to pass health care with a majority should be enough.
Why wouldn't it be okay? Not trolling or anything just wondering.
I'm not sure how old you were when this came out. I know as a kid I loved this movie. It was fun for a 10 year old. Watching it as an adult it doesn't hold up as much, but I still have a fondness for it. It's a B movie about B movie monsters.
I like the show, but it has a similar vibe to Lie To Me in my opinion. Hoping that we will get some variety as well. The episodes are getting a little predictable.
I think that the producers do have a hand in who is picked. I also think that although the show is called the voice, the contestants also have to be someone that people will vote for. Hence why we have to sit through everyone's sob stories over and over again. I wasn't sure I was going to watch this season, and am just finished the second episode because I'm just tired of the same thing every season.
I depends on their motive. Statistically most male serial killers do have sex as a motive, female killers can be sex as well but mostly money, although nurses are a high percentage of FSKs. The Zodiac is considered more of a thrill killer and targeted both genders. Berkowitz shot both genders as well. Yang Xinhai and Anatoly Onoprienko killed entire families. So not every killer needs to target one specific gender.
I don't remember the homoerotic tendencies as much. I think that he would have acted similar to whomever his victim was. He seemed to be more of an opportunistic killer who liked to play cat and mouse games with his victims and it wouldn't matter to him who answered the ad.
I think so far it's great.
Does anyone know if it's too similar to IMDB though? ie logo and all the information taken from there? Could there be any legal ramifications?
