No, it's dumb. Just write an original story with a minority kid as the lead if you have a problem with white kids as a lead in existing stories.
Seeing how Germany is one of the strongest and largest economies in the world and very succesful at doing business, it doesn't seem to be considered a very big deal, especially outside of Europe.
Germany actually received a lot of respect until their role in the immigration and economic crisis.

Not sure if it's a worldwide thing, but it certainly is here in Europe. Sure, most people here also seem to be centrist, but it's not the same with mainstream media and the cultural elite who are very much left leaning.

It may not be your type of movie or it may sound bad, but you have no idea if it's overhyped or overrated or one big sci fi soap opera unless you've seen at least some of it.
