Do you need your eyes tested? :D
It is an interesting point you make. People in the past did just eat less.
It's entirely plausible that when the film came out, the question of him not eating didn't cross anyone's mind watching it.
That's been my first experience of it also. I doubt I'll watch it a 2nd time to find out differently.
I enjoyed the music and I'm a fan of Cleavdon Little (knowing him from Blazing Saddles) and generally like any sort of car chase film.
This came up in a recommendation of 10 "1970s Typical Car Flicks" worth a look.
I'd watched Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry the night before and was enjoying it far more than this one despite it having many issues itself.
I had to stop half way through this to do something and popped on to the net to see what people thought of it.
I saw a comment that they thought the story was essentially about dying / purgatory and I probably enjoyed the film more having that slant put on it than I'd have done otherwise.
The real fact that's very much true here is that the Catholic Church has spent decades covering up the abuse of their clergy (both male and female employees - and with CSA and other violence against both male and female children)
Take your twisted religion and shove it right up your ass...then tell us if you're gay or not for doing so.
Like many people of faith, you love to condemn what is perfectly natural in the name of your God all the while excusing evil deeds of your flock under the banner of sin and repenting.
You're a disease.
Don't think it's "woke" to suggest that the Catholic Church is widely known for having some of the worst cases of paedophilia the World has ever seen that the religion often goes hand in hand with accusations.
Many priests being creepy weirdos isn't a far out or modern take on things at all.
I saw her in Outlaws first too and thought she was quite good value even if it was as a side character.
I'm stunned at her managing the Scottish accent so well in this. I genuinely wasn't sure which her real one was having seen both shows until I looked it up.
I wondered this too.
It actually didn't occur to me until a few episodes in that he was missing. I was so taken with the Mickleberry story it kinda passed me by and that was allowing for all the (obvious looking back on it) "we'll just call you Andy" type jokes in the first episode.
I think they tried to cover that with the water being off entirely. I thought the same when the toilet wouldn't flush. When they showed the shower and the taps not working, I think that was the reason for it.
Hope she washed her hands though! :-o
A friend of mine saw it last night and thinks it's possibly the worst film he's ever seen at the cinema.
Comedy can be subjective and a lot of the time, how much you enjoy a film can be down to your mood of the night. However, what I heard of it, marks it out as awful.
That's me just seeing it for the first time last night and I entirely agree with both these points.
It's not meant to be an outright comedy. It's just about a comic / comedian.
There were a few laughs in it all the same but I thought it was a pretty decent story told about a flawed character.
