I guess kind of like how The Town That Dreaded Sundown did. It was kind of a reboot and a sequel at the same time. I know this is heavily marketed as a sequel. But maybe its been that long that they know most listing will say Halloween (2018). Having said all that. I did also read that Halloween is just a working sort of title and that they will change it nearer to the release date

She had cancer if I remember right. She was complaining of stomach pains in her previous scenes and she wrote it in her suicide note. It's years since I watched this film though
