Came on here to ask others this question. :)
The fact that four guys escaped, we see one run off...
The guy turns up in prison...and is now back at the main house.
It added up in b-grade horror logic...

I can't recall the exact scene. Hmmm. He was at the house.
My first dumb insticnt was that perhaps he'd be a strange positive character till the end...and he did kill the large dude...oh well, it annoys me he changed so quickly, but thats what he is I suppose.

My question is - how could the script have ben written better to hide the final reveal a bit more...? Oh and when did you catch on?

It was a nice feeling being right though ;)
sometimes it's easy to fall into well scripted traps
and assume to no avail!

I guessed when at the dinner table he couldn't answer the question about whatever topic we has going on and on about. Alot of the minor characters in the film has weird characteristics and nuances so it didn't bother me when Tom was first introduced that he was acting weird but that dinner table scene got me thinking.

When they showed him in jail cell I knew right away he was the Bleeder.. Never trust nice people .. they are evil =)

Agreed.

Yes, I think there was something that tipped me off halfway through. It was before the dinner conversation but I couldn't remember it exactly.

However, I HAD been thinking "what's with that other guy with the face they never show." So put two and two together.

I recently watched this movie after not seeing it for about 10 years. So I knew the "surprise" at the end.

But if you're paying attention. During the scene where the inmates escape the asylum, before they get into the car and drive away, there's a clear shot of the Bleeder standing outside the car without covering his face. It's a side shot but you can clearly make out his long hair and the profile of his face.

Another side note. The Bleeder is said to cover his face because he doesn't like showing his face to new people. So after he gets a hockey mask he goes out into a crowd of people in the daylight and finds the Wife and Sister of the Doctor and has no problem showing his face off. Seems like a bit of an inconsistency with the character just for a plot twist.

I caught on how he was yelling like mad (or like a Tarzan) when he struck the other two invaders; that struck me as odd, since during the previous chaos he acted levelheaded to me.

Movieperson113, I was thinking the same thing about the inconsistency of him showing his face; I too thought it was odd that he'd be so open to showing his face to them after he was introduced as not being comfortable showing his face to strangers.
When I saw this many years back as a teenager, I think (I was only 7 or 8 when the movie came out), I was surprised at the twist ending though. I'm watching it on DVD now after having not seen it in years-I'm going to see if I can pick up on any of the signs mentioned on this board.

I'm usually a good guesser of plot twists, but this one I certainly did not guess. Even when the guy started acting violent toward the sister, I couldn't at first understand as to what was wrong with him. I even thought that perhaps he was hit by an arrow without anybody else noticing.

I didn't guess this plot twist either, but I think I know why it didn't occur to me when I was watching it. If this guy was a convicted criminal and/or relegated to a mental institution, shouldn't his history have come up when he was being processed at the police station with the other protestors? That is routine police procedure, to run fingerprints etc. and see what they have. He should have been discovered right away as one of the escapees, and of course, would never have been released.

For me it was the point where Dan Potter was shouting from the window, explaining that he never killed the previous doctor.

I thought it was a long shot, but it was a good twist they tried there
