Professional Tourist's Replies

"The Invaders" Dolores Claiborne Million Dollar Baby La mitad del cielo / Half of Heaven (a great 80s film from Spain) Tipsy Polluted Sloshed Sauced to the gills I know that movies from the 1960s and 1970s are considered to be 'classic' these days, but to me 'classic' means the golden age of Hollywood, 1930s - 1950s. :o) Back then, due to censorship, any movie about prostitution had to veil it under another, more acceptable cover. One good example would be "The Revolt of Mamie Stover" (1956). Then when the decade turned to the sixties, a good early one where the real subject could be out in the open was "Walk on the Wild Side" (1962). Moving up into the seventies, one good one that springs to mind is "Pretty Baby" (1978). I was in high school then and saw it first-run in the cinema. My first R-rated film was "The Exorcist." I was thirteen during the original run. My mother didn't want to see it, but my father did and took me with him. Mother was concerned it would give me nightmares, but I was fine and my father got the nightmares instead. ;o) It was very frightening, though. Even as an adult, I find the scariest films are ones that depict things that could actually happen, rather than something totally fantastic. [At the time, when Catholic priests were interviewed about this film and asked how realistic it was, they said it was pretty much the way it happens.] Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris" -- Memorial Day weekend, 2011. Four continents? As an american I believe there are seven continents. Europeans believe there are five continents -- they count North and South America as one, and they do not count Antarctica. I don't know where the people believe in only four continents, but answering as an american: 1. North America -- yes 2. South America -- yes 3. Europe -- yes 4. Asia -- no 5. Africa -- yes 6. Australia -- yes 7. Antarctica -- no My favorite was South America, particularly Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego. Professional Tourist is the handle I use online. At the IMDb there was an underscore between the words because they did not permit spaces in the screen names. I chose the name from a nice time in my life when I quit working for a few years and traveled around the world -- so I was a 'professional tourist' for a while. drhouse updated the script! It works in reference view now! Hooray !! :o) Okay, I registered and posted: https://greasyfork.org/en/forum/discussion/18052/ We'll see what happens. :o) Traveler, "The "reference view" is the "combined view". If you look at an URL on IMDB (in your case), it will end with "/combined"." Actually no, not in my case. The URL ends in '/reference', such as this one for "Veep": http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1759761/reference I've tried manually loading the page with '/combined' at the end instead. It worked, but is a different view containing much more information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1759761/combined Again, thank you. Yes, I'll leave the script enabled in case it's updated at some point for compatibility with these other views. :o) Traveler, I didn't understand the references within the 'edit' at bottom or your post (combined view??) but it got me thinking about something. I use the reference view (old title/name page layout), which is set in my account preferences. When I turned that off, then I could see the link to moviechat.org at bottom successfully. I loaded several movies and they all had the link at bottom, such as in the screen cap you posted above, but none of them listed the individual discussions as in this cap: https://greasyfork.org/system/screenshots/screenshots/000/006/635/original/moviechat-board-script-new.png?1488003996 Anyway, since I prefer to use reference view at IMDb, I won't be able to make use of this script. But thank you for helping me to figure out why it did not work. Cheers. Well, I have not been able to get this script to work. System: MacBook Pro, OS 10.8.5 Browser: Firefox v48.0.2 (last version for OS) Script Manager: Greasemonkey I installed the script manager and the moviechat script, have restarted the browser a few times, but when I load an IMDb page for a movie (such as "In & Out", 1997) or an actor (such as Debbie Reynolds) there is no link or integration of its message board at moviechat.org. And I've checked that moviechat.org has boards for the IMDb pages I'm visiting. I have checked that both Greasemonkey and the script itself are enabled. Any ideas? Are my versions of Mac OS and Firefox supported? (I cannot upgrade either). For the 'eventually' list, one feature I miss is the favorites list. On the IMDB boards, we could mark the message boards for actors, films, tv series, etc. as favorites and they would be added to a list. When we brought up the list, it would show us the number of posts within each board, and the date and time of the most recent post. That way, in reviewing my favorites list, I could see which boards had new content since my last visit, and link directly into them. It was very handy and saved a lot of time. :o) The first movie I saw in a theater was "Mary Poppins". I was three years old. As an AM fan, my favorite episode would have to feature Endora. My two favorites are "Disappearing Samantha" from season two and "Allergic to Macedonian Dodo Birds" from season four. Those are my two favorite seasons over-all, for how well-presented is AM's work. Seems they shut down a few hours early. The messages boards were to close as of Feb. 20, so they should have been up until midnight tonight, at least eastern time if not pacific time. Surprised by the early closure. http://www.imdb.com/board/announcement
