When Did You See Your First Rated-R Movie?
I was 11. Few friends and I bought tickets for another movie but then snuck into Scary Movie. It was wild.

shareMy first R-rated film was "The Exorcist." I was thirteen during the original run. My mother didn't want to see it, but my father did and took me with him. Mother was concerned it would give me nightmares, but I was fine and my father got the nightmares instead. ;o) It was very frightening, though. Even as an adult, I find the scariest films are ones that depict things that could actually happen, rather than something totally fantastic. [At the time, when Catholic priests were interviewed about this film and asked how realistic it was, they said it was pretty much the way it happens.]
Tourist, that's my first R rated film too. It didn't really scare me more than it fascinated me. And I agree with you...films that depict things that can actually happen ARE the scariest to me as well! π²
shareI was 13

I think Rain Man was my first one, although it's kind of ridiculous that it was rated R just because Tom Cruise said "did you fucking fart?" in the phone booth scene. Many movies filled with violence get away with a PG-13 rating.
Logan. π
My parents have been very over protective of me, but I usually have no desire to see most R-Rated films to begin with.
If mature shows count, though, I started watching Game of Thrones 3 years ago. π
I never understood why kids get so much of a thrill going to see movies they aren't supposed to see... Ratings are there for a reason.
13.
shareI'm going to guess it was The French Connection, which came out when I was 12. I read the book and really liked it so my dad took me to the movie
share1975, I was 15. Some friends and I did the exact same thing you did to see "The Exorcist".
LoL...looks like I was the oldest one here. My parents were too over protective...but then again, things were more like that in the 70's than they are now.
Nope. I was 20 when I officially saw my first R-Rated film just recently. 17 or 18 if you count mature-rated tv shows. I know what it feels like to have overprotective parents. π
shareWow, you sure DID have over protective parents, eh? π That's why I had to sneak to see the film. Although, when I turned 18, they couldn't stop me from it then...moved out at 18 anyway. π
shareLol, yep. I still love 'em, though. I don't usually have much interest in R-Rated things, anyway.
