I liked it pretty well. I'll watch anything with Colin Farrell, and there was one very unexpected scene that I thought was well done and horrific. I don't usually prefer remakes to 80s movies since I grew up in the 80s, but this one was as good if not better. I love this movie so much! Almost every day I wish I had a Marshall McLuhan hiding behind a post to pop out and tell someone they don't know what they're talking about. Whoever said that is Verysmart. You can tell by the big words. I think I've only been all the way through season 2 past the reveal once. I hope the new season just deals with the Black Lodge stuff. I think in the horror community any movie that stars a woman, especially if she turns out to be evil, equals feminism. For example, the 70s version of I Spit On Your Grave, which is basically an excuse to watch an explicit gang rape in real time, is widely considered feminist because she turns around and kills the rapists. So when it comes to horror criticism, I take any claims of feminism with a grain of salt. Man this got some over the top good reviews, and it did hold my attention waiting to see what would happen, but I can tell you I will never watch it again. It was depressing and bleak, which is what some people evidently like in a horror film. I am not one of them. At least they're obvious, at least on the individual boards for films. Half the time when I click on a trending movie the latest message is so stupid there's no doubt it's a troll. Any time you push and try to put people into parts or any role on the crew based on gender you are going to have backlash. I am a woman, and I wouldn't want to be given a job simply because I'm a woman. That seems insulting. And if one thinks there are not enough women directors, then pick up a camera and make a film. Lord knows anyone can do it these days and release it to any number of streaming services that are looking for cheap new content. Related, but mostly off topic: I'm not really good at arguing about political topics, but I like the idea some actresses such as Helen Mirren and I believe Sandra Bullock have had, which is to audition for roles in films that are written for a man, but that wouldn't change the film if they were played by a woman. Secondary parts, character parts. They've done this to stay visible and working now that they're older and not necessarily getting leads. What I mean is, they haven't said, "REEEEE Give me this part because I'm a woman," they've said, "It should not matter whether a man or a woman plays this part." That makes sense to me. Prime seems to have a lot of older movies, which I like, and the HBO shows are nice. I thought they would lose the HBO stuff once HBO got a streaming service, but it's still there. Which are the best international films on there that you watched? I've been watching an episode or two of Big Love for the past few days. I never knew much about it until it was mentioned a lot right after Bill Paxton died, so I gave it a shot and now I'm obsessed. Earlier I watched Girlfriend's Day on Netflix, which was kind of zany. If I am still awake after an episode of Big Love, I'll watch an episode of Lovejoy. It's frustrating. Fantastic movie otherwise. Spoiler: It's not revealed. LOL, yes hi I don't know what was going on in that convo but it wasn't boring....held my attention long enough to get to that link that may be useful because of the archiving. Until we get them all over here, of course. I will admit that I laughed my ass off at the first one, but I was 14 so standards were low for comedy. I'd give a new one a shot. More likely that they would do a "reboot." I just registered for imdbarchive.com (which I found in a really weird thread on the Halloween III board) but it doesn't have the trending topics thing which makes this site the so far superior one. Plus, I've gotten used to talking to people here now. But that one seems to have all the boards archived. I've been waiting for Bill Paxton's movies to start showing up on the pay channels since last Sunday and finally found this one on Epix. I saw it in the theater and forgot all about it until he passed and everyone started talking about it; watching now but I may turn it off if it's too much of a downer. I never saw Cat's Eye but agreed on Creepshow. In that one he mentions Demons 2! Guess he just really likes the Demons movies.
