Watching the trailer, the movie looked like a film out of time. Like it belongs in the early to late 2000s or something
It seemed to have so many cliches just in the trailer alone. And so much stuff that we've seen already.
Visually (CGI, aliens, scenery and wide angle shots, camera work) the movie is enjoyable.
The movie fails in other areas though.
Like writing and acting, I take it?
shareActing is fine, the characters are likable.
It was the writing that could've been better, like the movie is serious, people die horribly, humanity may go extinct and all, but then Dan and his team suddenly consult a high school kid, who knows about volcanoes, instead of the military or UN!?
But overall I enjoyed the movie, will certainly watch it again.

Just watched it, pretty good I thought.
Only issue for me is you will instantly spot the influences from other movies, but it was a decent enough time filler, unlike Amazons previous The Ice Road which was frankly boring.
I liked it as well. I'm not really sure where all the negativity is coming from. Just sounds like people wanting to complain for the sake of complaining.
I actually kind of liked The Ice Road as well. Neeson is always watchable and the trucker motif at least felt unique. We need more trucker movies.
I didnt hate the premise of Ice Road, but it was all so pedestrian, which I didnt understand seeing as the director did Breakdown and Terminator 3 so was no amateur.

It has aliens and time travel and I've rarely seen movies that treat time travel in a consistent and logical way (right now i can only think of Predestination and 12 monkeys) and be a good movie (right now i can only think of Predestination and 12 monkeys).
Predestination is legit my all time favorite time travel movie. And just one of my absolute favorite films in general.
I feel like it's under-appreciated. Like it doesn't get enough love.
