Looks like it's gonna suck.
Crap trailer. Run of the mill stream filler.
sharemore than likely, only has 117,000 views on the trailer.
shareI saw the uninspired poster and looked at the trailer. You have a point.
shareFeels similar to Edge of Tomorrow mixed with that show Falling Skies.
shareAs a fan of Falling Skies, for the most part, I'm looking forward to this. Hopefully they don't mess up what is basically just time travel, aliens and war.
shareI don't know. I liked Live, Die and Repeat, and this reminds me of that. If they keep it simple, with lots of action and just a little bit of time travel twists to keep it interesting, I think it could work.
Cross time war, while not ground breaking, is still not a dead horse, like some tropes out there.
That's the spirit. Don't give in to the negativity.
I'm looking forward to the movie.
I've seen both. Edge of Tomorrow was better by an order of magnitude. This movie was decent, but not great. Some thoughts - the cast was too large, so outside of Pratt, we never really got to know anyone. Also, these guys are supposed to be commandos, but in the group they had a guy that looked like he survived off Mountain Dew and Cheetos for 20 years and some women that looked like frumpy cat ladies. Not exactly Seal Team Six.
shareIf you really did see the movie then you would know that they only sent people who were older and would be dead before the future date.
You aren't the only one talking shit about this movie without having seen it.
It is pretty good. 7.5/10
Oh, I watched it all the way through.
shareThey explained exactly why there were regular shmucks drafted. It was a shortage of available military people. They were desperately drafting civilians to bolster the war in the future. The presence of blue collar nobodies (who got torn up as badly as one would expect) portrayed the level of desperation.
It was specifically NOT supposed to look like "Seal Team Six"
i'm amazed it looks really bad.
shareWeird, I saw it and thought it looks like it's going to be fun. My dad felt the same.
I guess the old saying "everyone's a critic" really is true.
i feel like there are all sorts of probs with past/future thingy - it would have been better if they went with the parallel universe - at least then you can draft everyone in exchange for new tech and it wouldn't lead to the paradox thingy
shareThe fact paramount sold it to amazon stream (over sticking with a cinema release) pretty much shows what they thought about it
They sold it for 200m (pretty much the figure it would've made at the box office)
In case you didn't notice, a LOT of titles that otherwise would've gone to theaters ended up going to streaming. The pandemic era has been a very uncertain time for the industry. I can't blame Paramount for taking guaranteed money over an uncertain box office return, though with the kind of money that F9, A Quiet Place II and Godzilla vs Kong have brought in, I wonder if they're second-guessing their decision.
In any case, the critical reviews are rolling in. Some like the movie, some don't. It's a pretty mixed bag. I'm going to check it out tomorrow.
