I was very much on board with this movie until she goes and gets "revenge" on the old principal or administrator lady. It genuinely seemed like the movie was trying to say that 'innocent until proven guilty' was not a sane worldview. Obviously the administrator lady was wrong in this scenario when it seems there was more than sufficient evidence, but doesn't mean you should blindly believe every accusation of this sort that a girl makes.
Maybe I'm overreacting, and was reading too much into it. But that's why I wanna discuss this ya know. And otherwise it's a pretty nice movie
'innocent until proven guilty' often means women are just never believed because rape is a crime very hard to prove.
There has to be a line, of course, but historically, rape has been a generally unpunished crime all over the world and women mostly prefer never tell anyone about it.
All you would have to do is talk to the guys' group of friends to get a feel of what he is actually like. If his friends are losers or shady you know the woman isn't lying.
What if it's a guy who hangs out with losers but is himself not a loser? What if his friends are frat boys (like in the Duke Lacrosse case)? Or what if it's the alternative scenario where they're not losers but liars who protect their own, like SJWs, Leftists, Democrats, and Liberal Progressives?
I mean, look at Joe Biden... he's had multiple accusations thrown against him, but because he's protected by the Liberal elite, nothing will happen to him until it's time to give Kamala the crown she doesn't deserve (nor earned).
As difficult as rape cases are, having evidence, rape kits, and testimony are all essential elements. The only other alternative is to go Punisher on the supposed suspects if the victim was actually a virgin or kid, and it's known for a fact that certain perpetrators committed the crime but there's no evidence to support the crime.
So basically your solution is "it would be obvious". That is a great way to build a legal system. If it is OK to send a man to prison because you think his friends are losers, is it OK to not believe a woman because her friends are slutty?
Also, how come murder and say other acts, which can ALSO be illegal and traumatizing, and be forms of violence etc, don't have such "he/she/it etc said this and that" stances, but this issue does?
And regardless of your feelings and even knowledge of the issue, does this frustrate you or are you, as unfortunate as it maybe, used to it?
And on a lesser side, is there actually a way of proving these things, and besides I often hear about how the percentage of false accusations versus real deeds are rather low and don't exceed 10% statistics wise? Also, did any of those in the aforementioned small percentage perhaps do it by accident and not on purpose? And surely there are rational people in such matters, right?
Well, say someone rambled a few words on the street and someone else overheard it and took it for granted or some similar scenario and decided with no doubt that the person in question in guilty. To some extent, "The Hunt" (2012) movie can also qualify, as a child basically has heard what her brother's friend was saying whilst showing such material on an ipad tablet and then the kid said the same thing about a teacher and the head of kindergarten in that film took it to mean that this is what really happened without a proper objective investigation.
And, and yes I have seen The Hunt many times, we all know what happens later, although it isn't the "law" the man gets in trouble with but members of his town.
Also while this is of course off-topic but I was actually rather baffled by how, after watching The Hunt and having some people feel it touched their nerve, they have actually gone out of their way to say how much they, errrr, dislike kids etc when, for one, at the very least, in that film, if watched closely or even generally, it was mainly the adults who were at fault for how poorly they handled the situation there in question, not to mention, it was also the adults who were attacking the main character and wreaking havoc and causing all the misery.
And so...
But then, maybe "hating" wasn't what the film was telling us to feel or think etc, even though it does deal with, in that case, false accusation of, and in that specific case, false or mistaken accusation of child s-al abuse and having the main character get accused of being a child molester.
Perhaps that film was saying that however rare, such cases may also happen. And once they do or if they do, they certainly don't at all solve any actual instances of the 'original disturbing issue' in question. And that it also matters how such things are handled too and that OK if in that movie's case it also includes a potential wrongful accusation, then...
The Hunt, which is a great film,is about a child accidentally making a false accusation.I assume most false accusations arent done by children but by adults or young adults and they cant make an accusation by accident.
