Does it have a lot of wire-fu?

I will be watching it tonight or over the weekend. Just wanted to check does it have a lot of terrible looking wire-fu in it? I hate unrealistic Chinese action like in crouching tiger hidden dragon etc. It throws me off completely. IP man series on the other hand had some of it but was impressive overall. I was just skimming through the Imax version to see how different it is from the regular one and one scene with Michelle Yeoh training Shaun had some bad wire-fu.

I really hope the rest of action is good.

Near the beginning there is a scene with a small amount, very well done, that seems more a tribute to that style of film than anything else. Everything about it screams 'cheezy Hong Kong action film!' after which the film continues in a more grounded and less schmaltzy manner.

reply

Thanks!! That's reassuring. I hope you did get what i meant by wire-fu ;-)

reply

The style is more Jackie Chan with a lot of acrobatics but the only time people use wire-fu is if they have specific powers.

reply

Yes.

reply

Are you really asking that about a Marvel movie? You seriously don't know the answer to your question?

reply

Well, I saw it. And as expected it didn't have terrible wire-fu. I enjoyed it a lot and found action very good. Its not like marvel doesn't make terrible movies. And if I knew the answer to my question why would I ask it?

reply

I think he's confusing using wires in stunt scenes (which most action movies do) with classic wire-fu scenes in wuxia movies, which I guess it's what you meant.

reply

Exactly!! you got it right :-)

reply

Thank god that it didn't. They only localized it to Michelle Yeoh's fighting style. Irritating but short.

reply

Yes, and thats the scene I saw while skimming through. This turned out to be a pretty nice movie for me atleast.

reply

I walked out of Crouching Tiger for that exact reason.
