Shang Chi movie is pretty much a Chinese version of Batman Begins

Hero of the movie goes to a "mystical" place in an Asian area to be trained by the master and bunch of ninjas. Hero goes back to the U.S. to get away from the past yada yada.

reply

I haven't seen this, but I did wonder if that might turn out to be the case.

reply

plus throw in a little bit of Speed movie in because of the stupid bus

reply

He doesn't go to a "mystical place" in Asia. He's born in China. He grows up in China. He's Chinese. He's trained by his father, and then runs away from home to the U.S.

Absolutely nothing whatsoever in common with Batman Begins.

reply

So he was already being trained at home then in a sense. Heir to the throne that ran away because of differing ideology or lifestyle. Watching it tomorrow.

reply

yes it is similar to Batman Begins

reply

It's very different from Batman Begins. You're just a dumbass

If Batman Begins were about Damian Wayne instead of Bruce Wayne then maybe you would have a point. But it's not, so you don't

reply

You obviously have not seen the film.

reply

I just got back from seeing Shang-Chi. I can see the similarities to Batman Begins. Even at times Shang-Chi (the character) was reminding me of Batman/Bruce Wayne. And Shang-Chi's father and sister kind of had a Ra's and Talia Al Ghul thing going on. There are some similarities to Batman Begins, but I wouldn't say they did some shot-for-shot remake but just changed the main character from white to Asian. They changed it up some.

reply

Damn that sounds like a generic plot you see in many films. Iron Fist? Doctor Strange? Snake Eyes? Well, similar in a sense they travel to some far away place to get trained then come back home to kick muth fuckin arse, lol.

reply

The OP clearly hasn't seen the film. What he describes is in no way similar to what's in the film.
