Did Not Expect this at the End *SPOILERS*

Apparently it was not a secret, but I did not realize this was a part one. Whatever will become of Spider-Man??

Jokes aside, it's a pretty good movie, but I didn't like it nearly as much as I did the first one. This one felt like a series of setups to fights that never materialized, and there really isn't a proper villain or clear problem to solve. Towards the end some of that is set up, but most of the film seems aimed to please hardcore Spider-Man fans, like the guy sitting next to me.

That guy must have jizzed his pants a dozen times during the film. He was constantly whispering "oh my god" or "nooooo" or "oh wowwww" to himself, sometimes sitting literally on the edge of his seat, and often holding his head in his hands in shocked disbelief. He clearly recognized every obscure Spider-character that flashed before us onscreen, and must have known every subplot and scenario alluded to with rapid fire precision. I think 80% of it went over my head, but if you're that guy, wear a condom when you go see the film.

Anyway, didn't love it, didn't hate it.

Man, bit of a spoiler there. More bait worthy if you just did Did not expect this at the end.... Yeah some scenes had some diehard virgins going OOOOOH! NO WAY!!! or some shit like that. They got live action Prowler, live action flashbacks of Sam Raimi Spider-man, Amazing Spider-man, every iteration of dead promoted father or Uncle Ben, hell they even got the Spider-man from the game appear in it.

It's not a spoiler if it is common knowledge, right? I double-checked before posting, and found articles dating back over a year saying the film was part 1 of 2, so this is my own ignorance and not some secret of the film. This would be akin to someone posting about, say, Infinity War saying "I didn't realize they'd be fighting Thanos in this one!"

On the other hand, I feel like you are actually spoiling some stuff, so I hope people who've not yet seen the film avoid your reply...

We didn't know it was a cliffhanger and neither did the majority of the theater we were in. There were tons of gasps and "WTF" and "no way seriously?" through the crowd. I do admit I don't read reviews on movies I know I'm going to see anyway, but apparently tons of people had no idea!

It’ll definitely be loved more if it sticks the landing with the next film. For me this is fantastic storytelling and I didn’t think all the Spider-Man characters detracted from it, it very much still kept Miles and Gwen front and centre.

Don’t get me wrong I’m a huge fan of the character and seeing Insomniac’s Spider-Man and Spectacular Spider-Man was cool but I was way more impressed with the story being told and the emotional core of that story. I predict the third film will be even more anticipated like Endgame was after Infinity War.

I just hope that the third film can live up to the hype and expectations it’s now placed upon itself.
