shareActually some of the reviewers are saying the failure of the movie is because "Gladiator 2 Turned It's Back On Masculinity": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uipOb3PVik
When a male oriented movie turns its back on masculinity, instead of celebrating it like the first one. It should not be a surprise it failed.
It is like calling a castrated man not manly, and saying it proves masculinity has failed.
I'm not sure why you're calling the film anti-woke. It's certainly not not that. I won't go so far as to call it woke but it has some woke elements.
shareI agree. I watched the movie and never even picked up a hint of "anti-masculinity." There were no 90 lb girls beating the shit out of 200 lb men. Several women in the movie were killed by men. I think some of the archers in the arena were women, but they had bows, making it believable, and even they ended up being killed.
shareGeta and Caracalla. Why the clownish effeminate depiction?
I think we were used to Crowe’s Maximus, and Paul Mescal’s Lucius was underwhelming.
Just a side note, if anyone saw HBO’s Rome, the casting of Roman soldiers and gladiators was done much better. Like Ray Stevenson as Titus Pullo. Both Irish actors (Mescal and Stevenson) but such a difference.
Agreed - great series and better than this film and the original gladiator alike.
shareWho are you agreeing with? Certainly not the person you responded to.
shareIt will ultimately turn a profit once rentals and streaming are factored in.
shareWhat is anti woke? You trolls are funny.
shareIts shit and deserves to flop.
