shareLooks decent. In Ridley we trust.
shareTrailer finally arrived. Here is Youtube

OMG. This looks so bad. I actually laughed. Not for one second I had a feeling I was in Ancient Rome. They all look like American Actors from 2024 playing pretend. This is like some Starz tv show.
Casting is so bad.
Denzel Washington plays Denzel Washington
Pedro Pascal plays Pedro Pascal
They were acting like Paul Mescal was some unknown treasure who is so charismatic that we will fall in love once we see him in movie. And he looks like... some dude. And we have young Russel Crowe to compare to. Who was full of charisma.
And then there are two idiots who are some "mad emperor" or something. Who look like caricature and SNL parody and not some "mad emperor".
Acting is just so bad in every frame of trailer. This gonna flop so hard. Can't see it making more then 130 millions. Considering 300 millions budget....
Like what is the plot? Why should I be dying to see it? Gladiator had a plot: "Maximus was betrayed, his family killed and he was doing revenge, defying emperor. And there was another line with Commodus being little crazy and intense and had to face Maximus ".
Here? "Oh, look CGI coliseum. Oh, look, Pedro Pascal being all noble, oh look, Denzel Washington showed up once in 5 years. Oh, gladiators fighting. Oh, CGI fight at the sea. ".
Just look at the trailer of original Gladiator and compare.

And then they put rap song!!! Like a nail in the coffin. Do they aim this trailer for 16 years old tik-tokers? Don't they know their audience is 40-50 years old people who watched Gladiator in theaters when they were young?
This is just disrespecting.
Looks good!
shareDementia Scott strikes again, duck and cover!
I have no expectations.
I see they gayed/crazied/holywooded up Caracalla up to the Moon. You just have to look at his surviving portrayals to understand how wrong is this. But these days many movies want to have their own Jokers.
What’s with all the “looks good” comments?
The inclusion of hip hop music takes a mediocre trailer and turns it into a steaming pile of shit trailer, just my opinion of course.
Nothing against hip hop music but the contrasting aesthetic of modern music playing along side a historical adventure drama is like shooting pink paint balls at The Mona Lisa and expecting people to hold the art work in the same regard.
Point being, they’re clearing trying too hard to sell this thing by placating to the mob, and please tell me, when has that ever worked out? Not never.
Yes I’m hopeful that it’s good and no I do not want this film to fail, but this trailer is a huge disappointment for me.
I think they are complimenting the footage despite the music. I think the movie looks good though granted, it IS Ridley Scott. All his movies look amazing even if they're crap. I don't like the contemporary pop songs in this trailer either but I still am looking forward to this.
shareI edited a few things in my comment, I’m hopeful too, just disappointed in its delivery. This is Gladiator II, there’s no need to put modern music in the trailer, the source material has more than enough weight, interest and fan base to carry this film into a solid opening weekend. Whether the film is good or not will determine anything after that.
I feel like the hip hop music was put in there to pimp the film, instead of adding to its artistic qualities.
Yes, visually it looks great. I'm not a fan of the music either, but it's just the trailer. I'm definitely looking forward to this and I hope it will be good.
shareThe music doesn't fit the trailer but I imagine it's there because the song is popular amongst younger folks. This movie has a massive budget apparently, they NEED to try appeal to younger audiences in some way if they want to turn this gamble into a profitable venture.
The action and costume design looks good and it has some talented actors attached to it. There is a chance it'll be a decent movie (though I'd be amazed if it matched the quality of the original).
We are saying it looks good because it looks good. The music sucks but that won't be in the movie.
This looks like a proper, respectful, big-budget sequel to the original film so I see no reason to not be pleased.
I watched a lot of trailer reactions today and they were universally positive. The only negative remarks I've seen are from a few people here on MovieChat.
Well first off, they're fulfilling my wet dream of seeing naval combat in the Colosseum. So that's pretty great.
I actually think it looks terrific. But the marketing with that god awful music is certainly a choice.
The song is terrible, even worse than using Radiohead in the Napoleon trailer. But the movie itself looks good. It appears to me like Ridley has most likely DONE IT and made a pretty sequel to the first movie.
shareIt was nice of them to show us the final scene. Looks like the climax is new Max fighting Pascal and chopping his head off (he better not back off from that)
