I mean cause the writer of the original Wrong Turn wanted to essentially start over and do a different take on the 2003 Wrong Turn movie and make it more realistic, in terms of having the people living in the mountains normal looking living their own way of life.
If he called this one Wrong Turn 7 people would expect the shit they got from the other 6 Wrong Turn movies, crazy deformed hillbilly creatures running around easting people.
And like it or not it is a reboot, its taking the franchise name and starting over, its not gonna count all the shitty direct to dvd sequels, its starting over and ignoring all those.
And this actually got a run in theaters, if this was called Wrong Turn 7 theres no chance in hell it would've gotten into theatres.
No matter how you turn in they DO want to cash in on the previous movies.
If it has no crazy deformed hillbilly creatures it shouldn't be called Wrong Turn. If it does it should be called Wrong Turn 7.
Anything else would be the equivalent of bringing out a science fiction movie called "Alien" but without the alien, just luring people in with the name, because they DO expect an alien.
It was called Wrong Turn: The Foundation when it was being filmed; guess they thought it would make more $$$ if it appeared to be a remake/reboot/reimagining
