We're in the knockout rounds now. This is where things get really interesting. So, how did your team fair & how do you like your chances?

Wales v Denmark

Italy v Austria

Netherlands v Czech Republic

Belgium v Portugal

Croatia v Spain

France v Switzerland

England v Germany

Sweden v Ukraine

We got Portugal. I honestly like our chances. Portugal haven't necessarily been THAT great. They have too many defensive issues in my opinion

reply

wales

reply

I mostly agree but I ain't gonna write off The Netherlands. They've honestly surprised me. I remember how poor they've been in the last few years

But they've been a surprise package this tournament. At least for me.

reply

Germany. And it was looking like we could be playing Hungary. Ah well.

reply

Seriously though, I like the England squad but their tactics & playing style genuinely bore me

It's honestly baffling how poor they are with the squad they have.

reply

Can’t really disagree with that, they are just trying to pass the ball into the net.

reply

...and we would have crushed you! ;) You're better off against this German team.

reply

Ha i guess we’ll never know. Would have been good.

reply

What starting 11 would you have for England?

reply

I’m not sure about the whole team but i’d take Kane out and give someone else a chance. Definitely keep Grealish in. Suppose we are the only team not to concede so they are doing something right.

How about you?

reply

For real though, I like Kane. He's one of the best strikers in Europe but his club form isn't necessarily translating well to his international one.

Don't know why Southgate just won't take him out. Calvert-Lewin deserves his chance in my opinion. Kane has been really poor

reply

Absolutely, great for Spurs but has done nothing so far.

Definitely give Calvert-Lewin a chance. There will be serious questions if Kane does nowt against Germany and we go out.

reply

Exactly! It's honestly baffling that he still gets into that starting 11 with his poor form at the tournament. The likes of Calvert-Lewin, Rashford & Sancho deserve to get a chance imo

Same with Spain. Morata's accuracy in front of goal is so shite. And yet, he still starts every game. Wtf is up with that?

reply

Belgium-Portugal and England-Germany the best matches!

reply

England vs Germany will be very one sided.

reply

In which direction,in your opinion?

reply

Good question...

reply

Germany will win naturally.

reply

I think Germany in the last few years wasnt very good. And yeah, usually they always win against England, but there are exceptions in there "traditions" of football. For example,Germany usually also always lose against Italy, but in 2016 they did qualify against them! So i think this time England can change the "tradition" of always losing against Germany. We'll see.

reply

Germany will win naturally

Oh dear oh dear oh dear

reply

I guess it's England's year.
While the others are running around, England has every match at home, in the same stadium. UEFA had to help the babies.

reply

While the others are running around, England has every match at home

Actually we are in Rome on Saturday.

Do you normally complain at the host nation playing at home? Spain and France won their respected World Cups at home, are they cry babies as well and helped by Uefa.

Are Italy, Holland, Germany, Denmark, Spain and others babies? These have also played their games at home stadiums at this years Euro's

Bitter, bitter clueless fans

reply

Spain won the World Cup in South Africa.

reply

My bad, thanks. Didn't google it to double check, I just had a memory of them winning at home for some reason.

reply

They won the Euro 64 at home, maybe you were thinking about that.

reply

I think you're the clueless one.

No team has ever done every game in the same stadium. Even France in 98 had to travel and run around in their own country. And the stadiums are always sold 50/50.

This year, for reasons that no one knows, England is the only host playing 6 out of 7 games in the exact same city and same stadium, in a special time that causes their stadium to be filled with basically home fans.

I'm not even going to comment on, for example, K. Philips the lumberjack, not seeing red cards for his wood cracking moves.

reply

No team has ever done every game in the same stadium

Euro 1996 all England games played at Wembley. Why? Because it is our national stadium, what a suprise.

Euro 2006 Austria played all there games at Ernst Happel Stadion and Switzerland at St. Jakob-Park

Why would England as one of the hosts choosen by UEFA play away from our national stadium?

in a special time that causes their stadium to be filled with basically home fans

Why would we not play at a time to accommodate our fans when we are playing at home. Bizarre comment. When we play in Rome on Saturday it will be played +1 hour GMT as that is the local time.

This year, for reasons that no one knows

We are one of the hosts celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the competition. Not England fault that what ever country you support wasn't chosen or important enough.

England is the only host playing 6 out of 7 games in the exact same city and same stadium, in a special time that causes their stadium to be filled with basically home fans.

Once again we are one of the hosts chosen by Uefa and wembley has been chosen as one of the main stadiums, whats the issue. Would it have been better for France to play there games at home or Italy or Germany, what does it matter, someone has to.

All of you posts just sound like a bitter fan of a country that has either gone outor is not important enough to be chosen as a host country.

reply

So to justify this obvious benefit that England has in this euro, you justify it by using euro 96... Another euro where England was benefited once more? This just proves England is the baby country that needs extra advantage to have a chance at doing something.

Austria got out in the group stage and would eventually play in Basel after the group stage.

I laughed at the GMT comment. Obviously it was not about the "hour" of the match, but the comment was referring to a time in our society where traveling between countries is difficult, especially to and from UK, so it's natural that matches in London will have almost only English supporters.

What do you mean "important enough"? Like Azerbaijan and Hungary are super important countries, right? It's necessary to be super important to have the honor of hosting an euro...
Don't worry. My country has hosted the euro. And unlike England, which has an embarrassing record in the euros in spite of being a host regularly, my country has been to several euro finals and has won the euro already.

Also:
"Would it have been better for France to play there games at home"

In here you should use "their". It's the English language after all.

reply

It proves nothing other than England was chosen as host of certain stages. Why? Because UEFA deemed it so.
If England win the Euros will this have been a massive advantage? Yes, absolutely. But again, that's the way it is. England won the world cup at home. Germany won the world cup in 74 on home territory. Argentina followed this up by doing the same 4 years later. France did the Euros and world cup on home soil. Of course it is an advantage. Is that Englands fault? Did they ask for this special treatment? If they were to win it then it is down to the fact that they (since after the group stages) will have won every match (including the quarter finals which are not on home soil). Nobody knocks France, Germany and Argentina for doing the same. Home advantage did nothing for the hosts who didn't win it the year they hosted it. In fact it can hinder a team at times because of the expectation level of the fans.
I would love England to win it but if they don't then at least we finally won our opening game and beat Germany in a knock out game. Anything from now is a bonus.

reply

Just sound bitter personally and when you end with pointing out a spelling mistake just makes you look foolish.

Every tournament has a host or host nations which have home advantage. Were you bothered about all of those like the poster above said or just because it is England. Let me guess you are a wales fan because they were not deemed important enough to host games and so had to travel over 7000km.

So finally as this is getting boring. UEFA chose England not the other way around.

Boohoo if people have to travel, big whoop, not Englands fault or problem, get over it.

You just sound like you hate England for whatever reason and making a poor arguement to justify that.

Will you be having a go at Germany at Euro 2024, they will have home advantage, not travel, have more fans or is it just England you have a problem with.

reply

I agree, it's getting boring.

reply

What is there to "own"?
England is cruising in this Euro with its home and referee advantage, to not see that is just being blind. But it's ok, everyone has their limitations. And I guess they deserve, otherwise they would continue and maybe reach a full century with zero finals. Even Greece, Portugal, Netherlands, Croatia reach finals, but poor England hasn't been to one since what, 66? The last home tournament as well.

reply

Perhaps you should write a stern letter to UEFA.

reply

I don't need to, UEFA knows what they are doing.

In Covid times especially they should have scraped this "tour around Europe".

Obviously I have no issue with host nations, but it's ridiculous that for example Switzerland has to travel from Rome, to Baku then Rome again, traveling 8000kms, while England is chilling with 0km.

If it was a single host country Switzerland would lose a couple of hours, not entire days. The advantage would be minimal.

reply

Perhaps you could provide UEFA with a link for Googlemaps.

reply

Obviously I have no issue with host nations

Except England

referee advantage

Oh now we have the referees in our pocket as well

You are trolling now.

Your hatred of England just shines through.

Write to UEFA, i'm sure they will listen to a deranged welsh supporter

reply

I'm not a Welsh supporter, they are too close to England.

Aside from jokes and memes you have no arguments for my point though, so I guess that's admission of proof. Let's see if K. Philips doesn't break anyone's legs next round.

reply

So you are German then.
Your team got beat by England, suck it up. We've had to do it many times over the years after losing to Germany.

reply

England got through.

I think they might narrowly defeat Germany on this occasion.

reply

I would not bet on it...

reply

I’m fairly upbeat. I’m not saying England will destroy Germany or anything stupid like that - it’ll be a close, low scoring match (but who knows?).

reply

I would also usually say that England should be the favourite in this match, but thinking that Germany is still alive playing like this and that in the last years die Mannschaft did not lose at Wembley I believe Germany will win 1-2 (🙈🙈).

reply

As long as it doesn’t go to pens 😥

reply

Let's see ⚽️

reply

This is where it ends up as a 9 goal thriller, lol.

reply

well, are you ready?😉

reply

In the pub 🍻👍

reply

I am at home with a couple of Radlers....

reply

Congratulations ⚽️!! It's a pity that Müller did not score....but congratulations.

reply

Yeeeeeeeeeessssssssss!

reply

I need another radler now😅....well I still have Spain fighting ...

reply

We’re on shorts now.

reply

Enjoy the party!!

reply

As long as it doesn't go to penalties, England have a chance.

Germany haven't necessarily been THAT great in the tournament so far...

reply

I just posted, “As long as it doesn’t go to pens 😥” before reading your post, lol.
