Sadly, it looks like one of the original Trek creatives is uncritically endorsing the writers for Picard:

Not criticising Berman because I think he is unworthy of being listened to or lacks good judgement, but in this case it's hard to understand the support he is giving to the new team considering that some of them may be intent on projecting their politics into Trek in a way that damages the show and the enjoyability of it.
shareBerman ruined ST. His version was mainly dark, dreary and mindless which was opposite the original version.
The new people are worst though.
Seth McFarlane understands Trek. His Orville show is a homage to it.

Not TNG which was created by Roddenberry.
After he died, Berman wanted a slightly darker ST. DS9, Voyager and Enterprise aren't as utopian as Roddenberry's shows nor have the social commentary and awareness of the original. He admitted that Roddenberry wouldn't have approved the shows. The only Treks I still watch are the original and TNG.
The only ST that sucks is STD and Star Trek Beyond which was filmed too dark.

"Then you're missing out on REAL people's interactions."
I've seen all of TNG, and most of DS9, Voyager and Enterprise. I just have no desire to rewatch them except for TNG and the original.
The original could be campy, but I liked the strong utopian message and the chemistry between characters. Spock was also my favorite character.
DS9 is often said to be on par if not superior to sttng. The original..... I know there are fans, but it's campy as hell - nowhere near as good as sttng or ds9.
shareAs a hardcore Trekkie, I'd normally agree, but STP is actually pretty good.
I've had better shitz than STD.
I thought this was a Kowalski post until I opened it.
shareI don't care for the abraham movies or discovery but they got this show right. They are listening to fans...
shareThere is an interesting video on utube explaining the downfall of Star Trek at CBS. The powers-that-be did not want the show around and it faltered after Janeway's return from the Delta Quadrant. It's about 20 minutes long, but it's worth watching.
